Oh good ole snowboard video premieres. Finally, there's one up in Los Angeles instead of Orange County, my laziness conflicts with any drive south of Long Beach or north of Sunset Boulevard. The fact that most of the snowboard companies based in Cali are down in Irvine or San Diego doesn't help my case. Well, and the fact that no one wants to come to Los Angeles. Just kidding...kind of.

Thanks to the amazing Burton Flagship store on Melrose Avenue, us lazy Los Angeles residents have an awesome Burton movie premiere to attend. This Thursday, October 1st, Burton's new film, "The B" will be showing on the roof of this fabulous establishment equipped with free food and beverages (speaking from past experience, there will be lots and lots of booze). Also in store for the night, the Burton snowboard team will be lurking around including the likes of Terje Haakonsen, Jeremy Jones, Hannah Teter, Nicolas Muller and many more. Plus, they will be ready and equipped to autograph whatever you see fit.

The actual video is for sale now so you don't have to wait for the premiere to check it out and judge for yourself but I'm pretty sure the premiere will be much more awesome than watching it solo on your couch. Personally, I haven't seen it yet (too busy doing much more important things...hah...right) but I have seen however many different versions of the trailer they made and that in itself got me amped/impatient for it's release. (For those in the dark, there is a Backwards Teaser, Beautiful Teaser, Banger Teaser, Basic Teaser, Bail Teaser, and Butchered Teaser.)

So, if you are in the greater LA area, be sure to get to the Burton Store for the premiere from 6-10pm.

Live Music by Really Addictive Sound.

8175 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA

Oh yeah...space is limited so they ask that you RSVP at RSVP@burton.com.

For more info you can call the store at 323-370-1777

See you there; I'll be the one in the front row with a huge grin on my face and possibly a couple drinks in hand.

  • Get ready for the Burton US Open 09, March 16-22

    Burton US Open 09
There are countless reasons why the US Open is one of the most exciting competitions in snowboarding. Below are a few. Check back here for detailed coverage of the upcoming event.

0 is the amount of dollars it costs to watch the best snowboarding in the world at the US Open, taking place at Stratton Mountain Resort, Vermont on March 16-22, 2009.

1 is the number of snowboard competitions that have featured the most progressive riding for longer than any other event in the world - The US Open Snowboarding Championships.

2 is the number of brand new Volvo XC-60s that USO sponsor Volvo Cars North America will award to the overall top male and female riders at the US Open. It is also the 50th anniversary of the three-point seat belt, which Volvo invented and shared with every car manufacturer at no cost, saving more lives than any other vehicle safety invention.

3 is the number of Olympic gold medalists competing at the US Open: Shaun White, Kelly Clark and Hannah Teter.

4 is the number of people you need in your car when you park at Stratton during the US Open finals in order to be entered into the US Open carpool raffle. If your raffle number is chosen, you will be the lucky winner of Burton's 2010 eco-friendly GMP products.

5 is the number of snowboard movies that have featured music by RJD2, who will be performing a free outdoor concert at the US Open on Friday, March 20 after the quarterpipe competition.

10 is the number of years that Chill, the non-profit learn-to-ride program that serves thousands of underserved youth around the world, has brought a group to the US Open. Chill selects outstanding members from each of its North American locations to attend the Open, giving many of the kids their first chance to fly in an airplane, see a major snowboarding competition and meet professional athletes.

10 is the number of years Santogold has been snowboarding. Her album "Santogold" landed at number six on Rolling Stone' (TM)s top albums of 2008. Santigold will play a live, free show after the US Open halfpipe finals on Saturday, March 21.

185 football fields covered by a foot of snow are what it takes Stratton Mountain Resort to build the venues for the US Open.

$50,000 is the amount of money the Men's Swatch TTR World Tour Champion will receive at the US Open.

$100,000 is the amount of money the male and female 2009 Burton Global Open Series Champions will take home after the US Open - currently the largest single payout in competitive snowboarding.

289,950,000 is the number of people over the age of two that NBC reaches in the U.S. NBC will air the US Open on Sunday, March 29 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. EST.

  • That's a Wrap on Winter X Games 13

    Winter X Games 13
Another Winter X Games has come and gone, but not without high drama, record breaking performances, familiar domination, and even a double back flip on a snowmobile.

The town of Aspen was rocking out once again as massive crowds braved the dumping snow throughout the weekend to enjoy the winter sports version of the Super bowl.

Once again the King of X Games, Shaun White, did not disappoint, winning Gold in SlopeStyle and SuperPipe. White scored the highest point total in X Games SlopeStyle history with a 96.00 . It wasn't as easy in Superpipe after falling on his first 2 runs, in typical legend fashion, White threw down a 91.66 to edge out Kevin Pearce's 90.66. With his 2 gold medals he became the all time leader in gold medals with 9.

The most hyped moment of the event was Levi LaVallee's attempt at a double back flip on a snowmobile. The crowd held their breath as Lavallee flew high into the night sky. Lavallee rotated perfectly only to be bucked off on the landing. Didn't matter to him nor the crowd though, as Lavallee was stoked to be alive after nearly pulling the impossible.

A major upset went down on opening night of Winter X in the men's Ski SuperPipe Final. We expected to see a Tanner Hall, Simon Dumont showdown, but an unknown skier from France, Xavier Bertoni, shocked everyone by overtaking both Hall and Dumont, to win his first ever gold medal.

Australians own Torah Bright surprised no one by winning gold in Women's SuperPipe. She owned the pipe all weekend, in the elimination round she scored the highest point total in Women's pipe with a 97.66.

In the 2 fan voted events, mens big air in snowboard and ski, Travis Rice and Simon Dumont took home the gold. The fans were wowed by Travis Rice's backside-double-cork 1080 in Snowboard, and Simon Dumont 's famous double flip superman pose.

The weekend was full of highlights, check out the results below from each competition courtesy of our friends at ESPN.
