Injuries Plague BMX Contestants Prior to X Games

It happens quite often and we hate to see it, but some of our favorite riders are out of the X Games going on RIGHT NOW due to injury. First one to go was James Foster, a favorite to win the "Big Air" discipline. Luke Parslow held a jam, like a fun get together typical of Parslow's events, but Foster isn't one to just dead sailor every set for fun. Unfortunately, on a double whip flip attempt he broke his leg. Not sure what the timeframe is for recovery but let's just hope he recovers..

Still making it into the top 10 at 34 years of age, Jay is one of the last few vert riders from the original Colorado Lip Lords Freestyle Team. An incredibly smooth rider with the ability to pump what will certainly be some of the highest airs of the contest, this 2004 Vert High Air World Champion will be throwing down 540s and huge no-handed one footers in his 8th consecutive X Games appearance.

Still able to break into the top 10 at 32 years of age, Jay is one of the last few vert riders from the original Colorado Lip Lords Freestyle Team. He is an incredibly smooth rider with the ability to pump some of the highest airs of any contest. Jay currently holds the 2004 Vert High Air World Title at 10.5 feet. This will be Jay's sixth consecutive year at X Games.

Jay is one of the only Vert riders that still use front brakes. His tricks are higher and smoother in 2001, Known as a consistent rider, Jay usually lands in the top 10. In fact, in 2001, he landed in the top 10 in all of BSS and CFB events ending the season ranked #5 in both.
