| Jeremy Jones documents the fight on Capitol Hill![]() Tackling a hill and all its challenges is nothing new for 9-time Big Mountain Snowboarder Rider of the year Jeremy Jones but usually the type of hills Jeremy is accustomed to shredding have snow on them. Back in September Jones turned his attention to a different type of hill...Capitol Hill that is. Jones sporting a fancy suit walked the halls of Capitol Hill advocating as a climate change witness. Jeremy's commitment to furthering the fight against climate change with his foundation, Protect Our Winters, could very well be his proudest legacy. He dedicates his life to fighting on and off the mountain to protect the places he loves to play. What better advocate about climate change than Jeremy Jones who gets the opportunity to witness it's change first hand in some of the hardest to reach spots on earth as evidence in last year's film Deeper and his newest film Further. With the help of Clif Bar Jeremy and crew documented the journey to Washington in which he raised awareness to help make a difference. TGR and Jeremy Jones go even "Further"Brace yourselves for even more cracked-out and committed film from Teton Gravity Research and the mad-man himself, Jeremy Jones. After releasing the monumental film, "Deeper" last year that chan ged how so many in the snow industry, hell, in any industry viewed big mountain riding. The boundaries that were broken, the determination, and amount of work put into it seemed insurmountable. Guess it only makes sense that the same fearless group of people would be the ones to turn this insane project into a trilogy."Further" is the second installment of this ambitious project and presents even more first descents, matchless terrain, and unparalleled experiences that ultimately have impacted not only Jones but the entire group involved for good. Terje Haakonsen, Xavier De Le Rue, DCP, Nicolas Müller, Lucas Debari, Josh Dirksen, Forrest Shearer, and Ryland Bell are the passionate and talented riders in this film so in simply knowing that, one can only imagine what will make up this film. The Nixon JibFest was created way back at the beginning of this century and returned with a fury in 2011. Now the initial coverage from the super secret event has been released to the masses. Get in the know about all the action that went down last April at Northstar. ![]() Words: Nixon The Nixon JibFest is back. What began in 2000 as a secret, invite-only event conceptualized by Nixon riders, Jeremy Jones, JP Walker and Dave Downing, made its grand return to Northstar-at-Tahoe this past April 26-28. Fifteen hand-selected riders took part in the three day event and included JP Walker, Jeremy Jones, Dave Downing, Joe Sexton, Simon Chamberlain, Seth Huot, Chris Grenier, Louis Paradis, Scott Stephens, Alex Andrews, E-Man Anderson, Laurent-Nicolas Paquin, Zac Hale, Brian Thein and Jon Cooley. Conversations to create an invite-only event that would elevate the level of riding with custom courses and obstacles first came to Nixon via Jeremy, JP, and Dave in the late 90s. From those early brainstorming sessions, the Nixon JibFest was born. With the expert help of Snow Park Technologies' Chris "Gunny" Gunnarson, the Nixon JibFest has seen its fair share of custom, one-of-a-kind and often feared features, including some of the more known features, as seen in MDP's Stand & Deliver, Decade and The JibFest Documentary films. Fast-forward eight years since the last Nixon JibFest gathering took place and welcome in the 2011 edition. A new custom course, a new crop of invited riders and a new jibbers playground were the key ingredients in making this year's JibFest better than ever. The return did not disappoint. For three days; morning, noon and night, the riders ate, slept and rode JibFest, creating a memorable experience for this A-list crew. All was documented for an upcoming web series to launch later this year on nixonnow.com/jibfest. In the end, through secret ballot voting, the invitees selected Louis Felix Paradis as the overall standout of the 2011 JibFest. Louis also won praise from his peers who also selected him to win "Best Trick" for an Andrecht to fakie over the spine. Not to be overshadowed, E-Man and Simon rounded out the second and third place selections for their skilled riding as seen when it came to the "Wheels of Death." The "Wheels of Death" allowed invitees to spin two different wheels that would dictate what their next trick would be and which feature would be used for the execution of the trick. The entire 2011 Nixon JibFest story is featured in the October issue of TransWorld Snowboarding and is on newstands now. Future Nixon JibFest webisodes plus a special three-part Nixon JibFest series of VBS's Powder and Rails will air later this fall. Not that the first teaser for "Standing Sideways" wasn't sweet in it's own right but what can we say? We wanted a little bit more of a preview. To put it lightly, they delivered. ![]() Under the title "Winter Storm Warning -- It's Happened Before", Burton has just released five and a half minutes of pure snow porn. The classy kind, not the kind that makes you feel uncomfortable. Danny Davis and Jack Mitrani pull their usual antics in the beginning and we'll never complain about that. Hammers, bails, pow days, park booters, massive hits, street rails...it's all there, and then some. Everyone has shown up in this trailer and got us running laps around our living room in anticipation for winter. I wouldn't be completely lying if I said I am wearing my outerwear right now. Share the stoke with this trailer 'cause this team isn't holding anything back.
