  • Jimmy Lariche Interview!

The more mature Jim Lariche stops by during his busy schedule to answer some questions and tell us what is going on in his hectic but fun life. Jim has a new board coming out next year and He has dialed his 230 Nautique perfectly to give him the best wake out there. Jimmy has already had a great year on tour and as we pass by the half way mark we hope to see him on the Podium soon!

    PW:
You just finished up with a double header, competing in Texas at PWT #2 and then the very next week heading to Kentucky for PWT #3. Do you like banging out events like that or would rather some downtime in a already hectic summer to go home and hang with Carl (Jimmy's dog).

JL:I do like events back to back, but it does get hard. Sponsors this time of year want you to perform but also work.. Between the stops I had to do my Hyperlite shoots and also the Nautique shoot. After that its straight to Hyperlite clinics in the northwest and up to the ShuShwap for a monster trip.. Its fun being busy but its hard to keep shredding your main priority.

PW:You have a pretty solid year so far, Ranked in the top 10 on the Pro Tour and your and 5th for the king of wake points chase. Anything your doing particular this year to keep you on top?

JL:Yea after Kentucky I just got up to 4th and that really feels good. Riding this year is so gnarly on tour! Every heat is hard, and every rider is killing it... Its coming down to literally every trick and how you land it.. I have just been trying to ride a bunch and stay consistent. More importantly keep it fun!

PW:You have a new board coming out next year. I heard its a little flexy. Can you give us anymore details on that?

JL:Stoked on the new board! Its called the Franchise and im loving the Graphics. Its a stiff lay up and its got features that are good for beginners but also let me compete and ride at the top of my game. I think flex boards are cool on the rails, but I dont think it works the best off the wake. I like a consistent pop every time I hit the wake and I cant get that with a flex. The board has some cup rails that really help me get all the pop I can and the biggest continuous rocker in our line. It also has a grind bass and rail fins so its sick on rails. I shaped this bad boy with Greg Nelson and he killed it!

PW:Im sure you have been asked this a million times. But where did your nickname on tour come from?

JL:haha well I showed up at wake games last year and my name was Jim LaRiche.. Sean Perry changed it up and Dano (the announcer) just ran with it. So I guess I am now Jim LaRiche, the more mature Jimmy.

PW:Got any big plans for the rest of the summer other then the contest scene?

JL:Next is our monster trip which is the sickest! They know this is a gnarly time for us so they get us all up on a houseboat and let us ride if we want, or just chill and take in the scenery. After that its up to Michigan for a tour with the Fox boys and they BRoStock! Im so stoked for Bro, Parks, Adam, Danny, Chris O have our own houseboat courtesy of our friends at bullshoals dock! After these contests let up and bit I really want to get home and try some new stuff for trick of the year.. Im excited this has been a fun season and its only going to get better.

PW:Whats it been like having your own house these days? And a new dog?

JL:Its awesome man. The hood is good! I have great neighbors and good people to ride with.. And Carl (my pup) has really made the house a home. Jeff Langley ,who absolutely rips, is living with me and its been epic.

PW:Who have you been riding with the most back at home. I know your roommate Jeff Langley has been killing it lately. What has it been like over in the hood?

JL:Again hah the hood is good! Jeffs the best, he rips and is awesome with the house! We have been doing so much riding with dudes like Shane Bonifay and Erik Ruck. Watson and Sharpe come over a bunch too. Its been rad man, Im stoked on it!

PW:If you could add one trick to your bag of tricks that you stuck 100% of the time what it would it be?

JL:It would have to be a good grabbed double flip.. maybe like a grabbed double half cab.. I want to start trying some more doubles when I get home and get some time.

PW:Little boat plug here. But people always ask me whats the best way to weight the new Nautique 230. And you have a fully weighted 230 so, whats the best way to weight a 230?

JL:Its the best man. The wake is soo sick! It really blows any other wake out of the water. Its got a defined lip and is steeper than most.. So for getting tech wake to wake or going big in the flats, you can just boost. Right now I have two 750s in the back, a 750 in the middle, 250 in the sides and then up front I have two 250s under the seats and a bow sack over that.. come shred with us, you will be amazed!

PW:The new Pro Wakeboard Tour format has really been getting great reviews. What do you think of the format?

JL:Its awesome! We have been having so much fun at the stops! The competitions as gnarly as its ever been and now we can kick it saturday night and all have a good time.. I really like where the tour is going.
