Joel is a fast becoming one of the world’s hottest prospects for international surf stardom. This Makakilo born resident has set his sights on the to 44 and there is no looking back. With a clear vision of surfing professionally since age 12, this young man at age 20 has accomplished goal after goal, multiple NSSA championships. USSF championships and HASA stat titles are what Joel is made of. There is no other youth who has amassed such well rounded competitive skills in all areas of the world. He has 3 pro junior events and also became the world junior champion in Brazil at the ISA world games in 2000.

Joel just had a huge year in 2003, he won the trials of the WCT rip curl cup at sunset beach, 3rd place at the Hansens Pipeline Pro, one of the heaviest Pipeline contests ever, a 2nd place at the WQS Fosters Cup at Lowers, and winner of the Billabong Pro-Junior at Kiwalos.

With roots on Oahu's north shore, he stands high above the competition when it comes to beating out the average traveling pros, and has set himself up for dominance on the world stage.
