  • Riders announced for Winter Dew Tour's Pantech Open in Killington, VT

The second stop of the Winter Dew Tour contest series will be taking over Killington, Vermont this week. World-class athletes will be competing in superpipe and slopestyle, eyeing the top spot on the podium.

Women's freeskiers will also make an appearance at this stop, where the leading ladies will have a chance to show what they're made of on the big screen.

It's going to be an action-packed event, so check out all the details from the Dew Tour below.

Dew Tour- Burr Ridge, Ill. - The Winter Dew Tour continues this weekend with its second stop of the season when the Pantech Invitational hits Killington, Vermont. The top athletes in snowboarding and freeskiing will descend on one of the East Coast's biggest resorts to battle it out for points toward the Dew Cup.

Louie Vito comes to Killington on the heels of a second place finish at the Winter Dew Tour's first stop in Breckenridge, Colorado. Eager to repeat his championship performance in the superpipe during the 2011 season, Vito will be aiming to redeem himself with the top spot in Vermont. The slopestyle course will be crowded with internationally recognized snowboarders, from triple-corking Canadian Mark McMorris to the Norwegian winner of the Nike Open, Gjermund Braaten, as well as a large group of American-bred riders fighting through the last chance qualifiers.

Competition in the men's freeski events will be sure to deliver excitement. After combating an injury in Breckenridge, Simon Dumont will take to the superpipe looking to dethrone reigning champ Kevin Rolland. Tom Wallisch will attempt to go two for two in Winter Dew Tour ski slopestyle wins this season, bringing huge air and smooth landings to a slopestyle run that is sure to defy the laws of physics. Last year's Killington winner Bobby Brown, along with Alex Schlopy and Nick Goepper, will be among the top skiers intending to push him off the podium.

The top names in women's freeskiing will have their Winter Dew Tour season debut at the Pantech Invitational with bigger stakes than in years past. For the first time in Dew Tour history, women freeskiers will compete towards a Dew Cup. Devin Logan, who took the freeski halfpipe world by storm in her breakout rookie year in 2011, will bring her signature style to Bear Mountain, while young up-and-comer Kaya Turski will be showing off on the slopestyle course. Several women with eyes on the 2014 Olympics are also headed to the Pantech Invitational, including Grete Eliassen, Brita Sigourney and Ashley Battersby.

In addition to action-packed competitions, the weekend will also include a Friday night VIP party at the Wobbly Barn, a well-known Killington watering hole. The night will feature a live DJ set from RAC, the Portland-based cutting edge duo of Andre Allen Anjos and Karl Kling, spinning original remixes and party favorites. Party entry will be $10 for those 21-and-over.

  • In Your Face: Torstein Horgmo challenges Jossi Wells

Spraying anyone in the face is funny. Well, it's actually hilarious. Anyone facing uphill is fair game. Now, when this someone is a skier...it's pretty much a double whammy. This is where pro rider Torstein Horgmo and his acclaimed game of "In Your Face" come into play.

Torstein has made himself famous with his "In Your Face" edits where he challenges friends and riders to a trick-off if you will, and whoever loses gets a gigantic slash directly to his dome - goggles off, no blocking allowed. In the latest duel, Torstein has challenged kiwi and legendary two-planker Jossi Wells - the first skier ever to participate in "In Your Face" with Horgmo.

Watch as they attempt to come up with tricks that the other can understand and watch Horgmo's mind get blown with ski terms and tricks that they can actually pull off. Yes, skiers can go backside and usually they prefer the term "backwards" instead of "ass-first". Thanks Torstein, bridging the gap between skiers and snowboarders one challenge at a time.

See who ends up with a slash of snow blasted to their face below:

  • Tim Pierce presents "Winter of Wells: The Documentary"

Move over Partridge Family, take seat Addams Family- There's a new breed of family taking over the spotlight.

The Wells Family, straight out of New Zealand is making their debut as the next "it" clan with Winter of Wells: The Documentary. This Tim Pierce production examines the ins and outs of skiing's most prominent family. The Wells Family is comprised of six individuals that live and breathe skiing.

Jossi Wells, the eldest son of four, broke unto the ski scene at an early age by winning several high-profile contests. His brothers, Byron, Beau and Jackson, quickly followed suit and have been making waves throughout the world of freestyle skiing ever since. Bruce and Staci are the parents of this crew and aid their brood in any way they can.

"Winter of Wells" started as a web series that gave an inside look into the lives of these skiers. Now, the new documentary goes a step further and reveals the extraordinary intricacies of this driven family.

The film is set to drop mid-fall, so get acquainted with the crew first.

Releasing this Fall, a spectacular 52-minute documentary reveals the incredible lives of probably the most ski-obsessed family in the world. "Most people will only know us from competitions, now they can see what we're really like," says Jossi Wells.

For the past two years "Winter of Wells" has enjoyed cult status: hundreds of thousands of viewers have followed the 22 episodes of the online documentary about Jossi Wells and his family. But that's not enough, according to director Tim Pierce: since the start of the year he has been shooting a DVD documentary about Jossi, Byron, Beau and Jackson Wells and their parents Bruce and Stacey. "The story of the Wells family is one of the most exciting tales there has ever been in action sports," says Pierce, "Which is why I want to introduce this unique family, which has spawned four of the most talented freeskiers in the world."

Up close and personal with an exceptional family â¨The story of the Wells brothers is truly unprecedented: Jossi Wells (21) is the 2010 Dew Tour Cup Champion, AFP Halfpipe Champion and AFP Overall World Champion, Byron (18) achieved his first Dew Tour podium in Snowbasin last season, and youngest brothers Beau-James (15) and Jackson (13) are cleaning up by winning every contest in their age groups.

"This documentary offers an unprecedented insight into the Wells family, their day-to-day lives and their values," says Pierce, creator of the "Winter of Wells" web series. Viewers are given a first-hand opportunity to see how the rivalry between Jossi and Byron affects the family dynamic, to hear what father Bruce (who works for the Ski Patrol) has to say about his boys' fame, and to understand why Jesus accompanies the highly devout boys every day they hit the slopes. "The best bit is," says Jossi, "that we get to control everything. We are able to explain our story as we see it - and we can be sure that people get to know us as we really are."

More action than ever beforeâ¨The most important part of the documentary is, of course, the action on the slopes, for which all four brothers use the same equipment from Atomic: "We had more time and production was more professional than for our web clips. So the DVD turned out to be like 'Winter of Wells' on steroids: everything is bigger, more exciting and more spectacular than anything the fans have seen before." The latest web episode of "Winter of Wells" includes a teaser, offering a glimpse behind the scenes during the early stages of the shooting of the documentary: "We used remote control helicopters to shoot some of the footage, providing a new slant on the tricks performed by the boys."

  • Winter of Wells 20: Austrian & European Open

The 20th episode of Winter of Wells has just dropped and with it come an explosion of European contest skiing. From the Atomic Austrian Open to the European Open in Laax, Switzerland, this episode follows Jossi Wells and his brother Byron through the milieu of competitive skiing.

Jossi, the elder Wells, is just coming off an injury, but returns to the contest setting with one goal in mind, to ski as well as he can and put down runs he's happy with. He accomplishes this goal by stomping huge spins on the massive course in Austria and also slays the pipe at the European Open.

Byron Wells has been turning heads all season with his fierce style and go get 'em attitude and displays his drive in this video.

  • FIS Wants Halfpipe Skiing at 2014 Olympics

    Words: Jeff Schmuck/Newschoolers

Following years of discussions and delays, The International Ski Federation (FIS) has unanimously agreed to ask the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to include men's and women's halfpipe skiing in the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

The FIS Congress met late last week in Antalya, Turkey where the entire Congress voted yes on a motion to pitch the event to the IOC in September.

Trennon Paynter, head coach of the Canadian Halfpipe Ski Team and one of the premier lobbyists for the sport's inclusion in the Olympics, is ecstatic.

"Myself along with everyone on the team couldn't be happier that they've finally got to this stage. We're all super confident and hopeful that this will receive approval from the IOC, and we're looking forward to slaying it in Sochi alongside our snowboarding friends.

"This is going to be really good for our sport and will help legitimize it in many ways," says AFP Halfpipe World Champion Jossi Wells, "I'm excited for the opportunity for skiing halfpipe to put on the main stage at the Olympics, and if the IOC gives the thumbs up hopefully me and my brothers will be there to represent our country and our sport."

"I'm absolutely thrilled with how this has turned out," says Sarah Burke, the winningest halfpipe skier in history. "This is a huge step for our sport and puts us right where we want to be going into the IOC's vote this fall. I know a lot of people are getting really excited, and it'll be interesting to see how many many slopestyle skiers start eyeing up the halfpipe. So I couldn't possibly be happier, because this needed to happen."

The IOC is expected to make their decision before early November.

"It's important to keep in mind that this isn't a guarantee, and halfpipe skiing is not an official Olympic sport yet," says Paynter. "However we've gotten a pretty good indication that the IOC will approve the event sometime in late October or early November, but we're not done crossing our fingers yet.

FIS has also added snowboard slopestyle to this year's World Snowboarding Championships, potentially paving the way for the inclusion of that event at future Olympics
