| Burton Winter Storm Warning Teaser: "It's Happened Before"We had a feeling that Burton had more up their sleeve. Not that the first teaser for "Standing Sideways" wasn't sweet in it's own right but what can we say? We wanted a little bit more of a preview. To put it lightly, they delivered. ![]() Under the title "Winter Storm Warning -- It's Happened Before", Burton has just released five and a half minutes of pure snow porn. The classy kind, not the kind that makes you feel uncomfortable. Danny Davis and Jack Mitrani pull their usual antics in the beginning and we'll never complain about that. Hammers, bails, pow days, park booters, massive hits, street rails...it's all there, and then some. Everyone has shown up in this trailer and got us running laps around our living room in anticipation for winter. I wouldn't be completely lying if I said I am wearing my outerwear right now. Share the stoke with this trailer 'cause this team isn't holding anything back. Ooh La La Nina: Mammoth![]() Mammoth is still firing with no signs of letting up. This Thursday With Mammoth features more of the white stuffing we all would be grateful for this Thanksgiving. Featuring pow hungry pilgrims Jussi Oksanon, Shayne Pospisil, Lonnie Kauk, Kimmy Fasani, Scott Blum, Eddie Wall, Ejack and others. Time to start thinking about making the trek up the 395 or booking a seat on Frontier. Head on over to SNOWBOARDER to watch the video. Channels: Snow SASS Session 3: Action in ArgentinaWhile many people in the Northern Hemisphere anxiously await the first frost and flakes of winter, the Patagonia region in Argentina has been getting dumped on for days. So much snow has fallen on the local mountain, Cerro Catedral that much of the terrain remains closed to prevent major avalanches and slides. Seems crazy to actually want the snow to stop, but as the accumulation nears 2 meters in just two days, pros and clients at South America Snow Sessions hope for a reprieve and the chance to drop into some of the deepest lines of their lives. ![]() We arrived at the SASS compound in Bariloche, Argentina after 30 hours of traveling and found ourselves in a winter wonderland. Photo: J. Pollner Session 3 at SASS is in full effect and GrindTV is stoked to be onsite in Bariloche, Argentina to experience all of the action first hand. If there ever was a time to be in Southern Hemisphere to ski and snowboard, now is that time. World renowned pros and guides are all here working on different projects, but the common connection is the internal desire to shred massive amounts of pow. Burton Photographer Dean Blotto Gray, BlottoPhotto.com, captured this epic shot of Argentine cars completely covered in thick sticky snow. There's so much going on down here, with new things popping up everyday, that we wanted to give you a little taste of all the "epiciness" that's already unraveled. ![]() Photo: BlottoPhotto.com Members of the Burton International Team, Jussi Oksanen, Jeremy Jones and Mikey Renz were onsite and were busy exploring the terrain of Cerro Catedral. They focused on shooting epic action and artistic lifestyles for upcoming Burton catalogs. With Blotto onsite you know the team crushed it, found the goods and got the shots. ![]() Pro shred, Jussi Oksanen found himself neck deep and couldn't have been more stoked. Photo: BlottoPhotto.com The Burton team had a productive trip and are excited to be apart of the SASS family. Their first Argentine adventure may have ended, but with conditions this epic, you know they'll be back. Also in the mix are members of One Life Crew. Chanelle Sladics, Jamie Anderson and Kjersti Buuas are all at the SASS compound and have been busy filming and working on environmental projects. The Crew has teamed up with SASS and are building greenhouses out of recycled plastic bottles. The greenhouses are being used to enhance the awareness of food sources and to help promote recycling within the community. These eco-friendly buildings will be donated local schools once completed. This has been a huge project for SASS and the One Life Crew and lots of hours were spent gathering the materials and constructing the houses. ![]() Members of the SASS family in front of a portion of the greenhouse. Photo: Jen Jones Pro Skier and SASS coach Michelle Parker has been very instrumental in the entire process of building the greenhouses. . Photo:Jen JonesMethods of recycling haven't really been introduced to locals of Bariloche, so this project has helped create a general awareness of their importance. In order to gather enough plastic bottles for the buildings, lots of bags of trash had to be picked through. One Life media man, Casey Cochran did a bunch of the dirty work, and was happy to help dig through trash for plastic bottles. ![]() Photo: Ryan Dunfee ![]() The process of building a greenhouse requires quite a bit of effort. Chanelle Sladics and Casey Cochran know all about teamwork. Photo: Jen Jones These projects have been a major part of Session 3 and to celebrate the hard work of everyone involved, the One Life Crew put together an amazing concert featuring Cindy Santini and Marc B. These musicians hail from Southern California and were excited to share their talents with the SASS family. ![]() Marc B and Cindy Santini doing what they do best. Photo: Jack Pollner Check out these artists and listen to their music at CindySantini.com and MarcBmusic.com The show was held at Mute which is "RestoBar" at the base of Cerro Catedral. Cindy and Marc B played to a crowd of locals, SASS clients and pros alike. Everyone was super stoked and grooved to the music while it pounded snow outside. Members of the Roxy snowboard team, including Olympic gold medalist Torah Bright, made the 30 hour trek to Bariloche and arrived just in time for the concert. ![]() One Life Crew and Roxy Girls. Photo: Jen Jones The Roxy team is just getting settled into their new SASS abode and will be busy shooting for upcoming catalogs. We'll be catching up with Torah Bright for an exclusive interview so be on the lookout for that. Members of the Dakine team just rolled into town and once their bags make it as far as they did, they'll be neck deep and slaying pow. Check back for features with Shayne Pospisil, Austin Smith, and Bryan Fox. That's just a little nibble of everything going here at SASS. We'll be posting often and keeping you in the loop with all the amazing action popping off in Bariloche, Argentina. Stay tuned... Channels: Snow LA Burton Premiere. Success In My Book.First, I apologize for the delay of this blog post about the LA Burton premiere but hey, I had to go to the Irvine premiere too...and then it was Saturday....then Sunday came along and I had to watch football...then Monday is just lame so I couldn't write it then. So Happy Tuesday! Here's the rundown of "The B" LA Burton Premiere at the Burton Flagship store on Melrose Avenue. This store knows how to throw a party. Burton always goes big with their events so Thursday night (October 1) they set up a gigantic projection screen on the rooftop of the store with the Hollywood Hills as the backdrop. There was the autograph signing session in their board hall as well as a couple open bars set up for all to enjoy. The party was packed with people and that store is pretty damn huge so when it actually feels crowded you know it was a good turnout. I think the free Pink's hot dogs and popcorn maybe had something to do with that. The autograph table had seats saved for Terje Haakonsen, Jeremy Jones, Jussi Oksanen, Kevin Pearce, Mikkel Bang, Hannah Teter, Ellery Hollingsworth, and Jack Mitrani but there were tons of other riders that showed up to give their support. (I saw most of them at the after party...c'mon, priorities.) The premiere was a success. The video was awesome - I was pleasantly surprised at what they put out this year. "The B" had so much talent to work with and the result was impressive. It showcased tons of variety and mind blowing riding. I think deep down, some people tend to criticize the big guys (ahem...Burton in particular) and hope they fail at certain things and "The B" did the exact opposite. Throwing in the only footage of Shaun White killing his own private half pipe was pretty much ridiculous (in a good way) and then Keegan Valaika in the back country? Bonkers. Maybe what was even more nuts was the actual feature they made that was shaped as the "B" with pretty much the entire team hitting something on it at the same time. Way to go, guys. Last, I'll summarize the after party. Everyone rushed over to The Spanish Kitchen to hopefully get let in before the mass crowds started lining up. Of course, we get there and we're asked to wait outside in line but with a little persuasion...and maybe some sneakiness, we got inside to enjoy another open bar and delicious free food. Louie Vito was even on the dance floor busting a move...wait, maybe that wasn't him. Anyway, it was a good time with good vibes and good people. Thanks Burton for yet, another awesome time.
