| AboutThough she prefers slopestyle, Sun Valley's Kaitlyn Farrington gets it done in the pipe as well with multiple podiums in both disciplines during the '07 season to move her into snowboarding's elite, which included a nod from U.S. coaches to join the Rookie Team. UPDATE Newly graduated from high school, Farrington is ready to rise up and take on the world of professional female snowboarders, and her resume from the 2008 season backs her up tenfold. With a second and first place finish during the tour, Farrington came in second in the Revolution Tour title. She then went on to take second in the Junior Worlds halfpipe competition. FIRST TRACKS While in fifth grade, Kaitlyn's mom attempted to teach her how to ride at Sun Valley's Lower River Run. "Everyone was laughing at me from the chairlift," she said. "I just kept catching my edge." She wasn't frustrated, though, and packed away her alpine skis later that day. Then at the urging of her snowboarding buddy, Heather Black, she joined the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation's snowboard team in ninth grade and made U.S. Snowboarding's 2008 Rookie Team as a junior in high school.
