Kanoa Igarashi is the epitome of surf stoke and natural talent. Since he was four years old he has been turning heads with his amazing talent. His skateboarding skills are also very worthy and he is able to apply the tricks he does at Vans Skate Park to the ocean. He lives in Huntington Beach and is a regular at the pier and can be seen surfing Newport as his alternate location.

On the weekends he is always surfing contests. In fact he is dominating them for his age category. He recently won the NSSA West Coast Championship in the Mini Grom division. He competes in three different divisions and regions, which have him and his parents traveling up and down the California Coastline from San Diego to Santa Cruz. To him it’s just another adventure to another surf spot and he is always stoked!

Being nine has it’s drawbacks-like when there’s a large and consistent swell it takes him a little extra effort to get to the outside. But once out the back he will take off and charge on some gnarly waves. He has the whole repertoire of maneuvers from nice rail grab cutbacks to tailslides and airs that make many older surfers a little bitter. Simply put the kid rips and even at such a young age it won’t be long before everyone knows who he is.
