Channels: More Interview: Da Berg photo:Ryan TaylorKeith Lidberg is an OG in the sport of wakeboarding and He is one of the first riders too transition from boat to cable completely. Keith kills it on the cable and has so much awareness of where he is at. I catch up with Keith during this offseason too see what hes doing. PW:What things did you accomplish in 2009 that stand out the most now in early 2010? KL:2009 was for sure one of my better years. It started early with filming for Global Warning and ended with a 2nd overall for the WWA Wakepark World Series. I had started putting more focus on wakepark events last season as a result of the repeatetive and often biased and political boat Pro Tour. It in fact paid off as I was able to travel the world quite a bit more last year and get a bit of my mojo back for cable! I had a lot more fun last year than years past and I think that is going to carry over to 2010! PW:I know your out there right now training and riding during the offseason. What are you training on and working on the most? KL:More than anything I am working on my physical fitness and air awareness in the off season. I spend about three hours a day working out and using trampoline training to keep me sharp while the colder weather rolls through. I also am going to be spending some more time at the cable shooting and filming so that I can focus solely on the travels in-season.
Photo:Ryan Taylor www.gw-movie.com PW:The 2010 Cable Triple Crown Tour is going to be a huge step forward for cable here in the US. What are your hopes for the tour this year? KL:2010 will be the first ever fully legit U.S. Wakepark Tour. The WWA and some others have really worked hard to put this dream series together and a dream that some of us veterans have had since my first cable experiences in 2000. I look forward to being on the top of my game and to make sure the Triple Crown gets the credit and exposure it deserves! PW:Where is cable going in the future? Are we going to see more and more Air tricks or do you think that the cable especially the system 2.0 is going to open up new possibilities for rail riding? KL:The great thing about Cable and System 2.0 is that they can cater to different types of riders including rail, air trickers, stunt, leaners, etc. I see Cable and System 2.0 bringing in a new wave of talent and eyes to our sport essentially growing our sport to new levels. System 2.0 has already shown us how easy it is to put on major events at major venues ie. Redbull Wakelab, Fise, Redbull Wake the Line etc... I see wakeboarding breaking in to events like Dew Tour or X games again as the mobility of the System 2.0 continues to allow us to use our imagination to put on insane events all across the globe.
PW:After your video part in Global Warming in 2009 do you have any big plans for traveling, filming and doing in 2010? KL:I would love to be filming in 2010 but I believe in keeping it fresh and to see the same group of 10 guys doing basically the same 20 tricks year after year is not what our sport needs. I prefer to wait for a bit to build my skills and for the right opportunity to come along. I will however be shooting quite a bit with the Projects to work on building more online content. We do have some things in the works that I am sure will blow peoples minds! PW:What song do you find yourself singing the most when your going around and around at the cable? KL:The theme song to Eddie Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop...daaa.daa.daadada da daaa daaa daa. da da dada daaaaa...wait that doesn't translate... PW:Can you give us some insight on your brand 3? KL:Well as of right now Three is a collection or sub brand of Ten-80. It is totally my own collection branded and marketed as its own name. The hope is to build confidence for the line through the already established Ten-80 brand name. Three will be dropping this spring for its first year! I have put a lot of work into collaborating with Ten-80 to make this collection come to fruition and am really excited to see the gear out on the water. We are already putting a ton of work in to 2011 and coming up with ideas for making this top of the line product collection the next big watersports name Three! check out www.ten-80.com/downloads/three for a sneak peek at the 2010 product line!! Go buy a copy of Global Warning today on Blu-Ray! www.gw-movie.com Channels: More Keith Lidberg- Unused footage from Global WarningCheck out this Unused footage from Global warning by Ronnie Romero and David Cervenka. The guys traveled around the world with the sports top riders producing one of the first wakeboard dvds in full HD on Blu-Ray. The high production value of this video called for quality shots only being used in the video. The following video is the shots that are really sweet but just were a little off. There are a ton of different factors why a shot is not used from shakiness, exposure, rider not landing clean, angle, and more. So check out the almost good enough shots in this following video. Basically Ronnie dumped all the unused footage onto Vimeo from rider Keith Lidberg. Ronnie did not apply any music to the video so turn on your favorite song and jam out. There are a ton of really cool shots that were not used in the video. Everyone should go buy a copy of Global Warning on Blu-Ray or Dvd and support this awesome video! www.gw-movie.com Channels: More |
