She started riding in 1994 following her sister's footsteps who was already into snowboarding. Her breakthrough as a competition rider came in 1996 when she won a local big jump contest and got sponsored. She started traveling around with Roxy teammate Lisa Wiik, riding the Norwegian cup in 1997. In 1999 she won the World Junior Championships and launched her international career. In 2000 she signed her first professional snowboard contract, and won her first world cup contest that same year. She then secured her place as the most stylish female ripper out there at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, UT, pulling the biggest air to fakies ever seen by a girl and finishing just outside of the medals in 4th place. She was one of the few girls invited to the prestigious Arctic Challenge in 2001, and has been invited back every year since then. At the Arctic Challenge in 2005, she ranked 2nd in the big air contest with a big, and very stylish, frontside 720. Not surprisingly she was voted "Queen of Style" by the readers poll in Onboard magazine in 2004. Kjersti is an international showboard superstar, known for her smooth style and good attitude. Although quite young, she is clearly one of the true ambassadors of the snowboarding spirit. For Kjersti, snowboarding is all about having fun with friends, the lifestyle, the creativity, the freedom, doing well in contests, and being recognized as a progressive, creative and stylish rider is what matters most to her. Besides riding contests, Kjersti was this year focusing on filming her second part with Chunkyknit Productions, the all girls snowboard film. She is very much into filming and editing herself, and along with long time Roxy rider Stine Brun Kjeldaas, produced a season long series of snowboard lifestyle shows for Norwegian television. Her creative side also comes through in many pictures she takes of her travels. She also plays for a local football team when she has time back home in Norway. Kjersti is a short-tempered little girl, but she never stays angry for very long. She is not scared to take the first step to make up. She has a lot of energy and can never sit still for very long. She easily makes friends, and when she first starts talking it can be hard to shut her up, since she loves to include everyone in what's going on. |

Kjersti, the video you have up on this page is really remarkable. Honestly, it is super cool. I love the music selection and the riding is really cool. It is nice, cuz it is not too hard core. It is very marketable to a younger generation of snowboarders, that still have to be in school and be responsible and not able to go the snow everyday. It is really cool, thank you for continually sharing your vibrant personality with the fans :). bb
I hope the translation is nice, I got it from the computer: Like under google, translations (english to norwigian) :).
