As of Jan. 1, 2004, Lars Veen is the only Norwegian skier qualified for a Winter X park event, and at 17 is the youngest competitor in Slopestyle (two months younger than Simon Dumont). He qualified for Slopestyle at the 2003 Rip Curl Freeski by taking 3rd with smooth rail work and a switch bio 1080. Veen is a big air and slopestyle specialist, though he has a strong racing background, as a former member of the Norwegian National Team. WX 2004 will be Lars' first Winter X event.
