Seriously, she cannot take a bad photo." ![]() In regard to Eric Messier, "Eric Messier is like the James Dean of snow surfing. The guy's so good looking it makes me uncomfortable. I'm serious, I take his good looks as a personal threat to my fragile ego and it just may cost him his spot on the team." Don't act like you're impressed by his mug donning The Madness shades. ![]() "Do you remember the scene in the movie JKF when Kevin Costners' character (Jim Garrison) is interviewing Joe Pescis character (David Ferries) and Joe's character says "Oh man, why don't you fuckin' stop it? Shit, this is too fuckin' big for you, you know that? Who did the president, who killed Kennedy, fuck man! It's a mystery! It's a mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enigma! CAPiTA drops full teaser for "Defender of Awesome"After a four year hiatus from releasing a team video, CAPiTA has gotten back into the game. "Defenders of Awesome" is their upcoming shred film and holy snowballs it looks to be a winner. They just dropped their official teaser and the raw talent of their team is taking over. ![]() The video title alone got it points in my book, but after witnessing the caliber of riding that makes up this movie -- there's no going back, it will most likely change your life. If not only by making you pee your pants with joy. Down and dirty in the streets alongside big and banging in the backcountry is all I can say. Featuring Scott Stevens, Laura Hadar, Jess Kimura, Brandon Cocard, Cale Zima, TJ Schneider, Dustin Craven, Dan Brisse, Phil Jacques, and more. I'd say that's plenty of awesome to defend. If you know what's good for you: CAPiTA Facebook Page Defenders of Awesome Tuesday Teaser 4: Laura HadarSo...I don't know if you know but CAPiTA Snowboards is putting out a team video this year. This is a very good thing. This is their first video release in four years and they have been hoarding all these bad ass riders the whole time. Pretty damn selfish of them. Hence, one can imagine the snowboard industry's excitement when the news of this upcoming film went public. ![]() The anticipation for this video, "Defenders of Awesome" has only grown with the release of short edits featuring three tricks from each rider that are ripping in the movie -- the latest being all around girl-beast (this is a compliment), Laura Hadar. It's already, basically, an all-around scientific fact....kind of, that this video is going to be spectacular. Yeah, I said spectacular. If you missed the past "Defenders of Awesome" releases.... Nike's "Greasin the Wheels" video "'How long after seeing a cop are you supposed to wait to fire one up? What's the rule?' asks Danny Kass.'Ten seconds,' says Laura Hadar, without missing a beat. Eric Jackson nods in agreement and keeps strumming his guitar. In the seat behind him, Johnnie Paxson stares out the window, while Justin Bennee keeps the rhythm with his beat machine. Austin Smith taps his foot and Annie Boulanger looks on with Gigi Rüf. He's grinning, as always. We're somewhere north of Reno, Nevada, ripping along a wet road. It's gray and getting dark, and now there's smoke puffing from our RV. Read more... Channels: Snow The pros celebrate snowboarding in their birthday suitsIf you got your hands on the June 2010 issue of Vice Magazine, the fact that ther e are snowboarders gallivanting around in the snow baring all that their mama gave em' probably doesn't surprise you since most of these photos were featured back then.Actually, I guess that ending up in their birthday suit in public is pretty common with pro snowboarders. However, the reason behind it this time is not losing a bet or being extremely intoxicated. Winter's Children, a book by Jim Mangan, is a "celebration of the pure, naked joy that burns at the heart of snowboarding. Tellingly absent from this unusual series of photographs is the brash consumerism that not merely clutters, but absolutely defines the snowboarding industry today." A group of riders got together for this fine art and photography project that Mangan came up with and got to experience what seems to be one hell of a liberating experience. Sean Black, Peter Line, and Laura Hadar are among the few who stripped down and strapped in to take part in this "playful hybrid of youth culture and nature photography" as well as a physical commentary on "the commercial snowboarding industry." ![]() Wrapped only in wool blankets - true to hippie form, the group took on Mother Nature and the surrounding powder and peaks. The photos are raw and real and genuinely show the enjoyment that everyone experienced. They also genuinely show how hairy some people really are. How many people can really say that they did a naked method over a bonfire in the middle of nowhere? Yeah, that's what I thought. I'm thinking this book might be starting a trend...watch out. Winter's Children will be hitting the bookshelves December 2010. |
