A D V E R T I S E M E N T My Info
| AboutA virtual unknown in North America before WX '03, Laurent Favre has made the final each year he has competed. Like many of the other European skiers, Laurent does not spend a lot of time in the terrain park and prefers to freeski often. Laurent is equally proficient on rails and on jumps, and he prefers slow stylie spins over faster rotations even if that means not making the podium. In 2005, Laurent got big props from his fellow riders for throwing a switch cork 630 onto a down rail at the Candide Thovex Invitational in La Clusaz, FRA. If Laurent stomps both the rail section and jump section at WX 2006, he could be the first Frenchman to grace the Slopestyle podium at WX. Laurent was unknown in North America before WX '03 (his first WX) where he managed an impressive 6th place finish. While he was a little rough around the edges in '03, Laurent returned to WX '04 with a more polished style and just missed the podium finishing 4th. Favre has done well in both superpipe and slopestyle competitions (he finished 4th at the 2004 World Superpipe Championships), but he considers himself a slope skier. At the first major comp of the 2004/ 2005 season, the Rip Curl Freeski in Les Diablerets, SUI, Laurent finished third in the slopestyle, a good sign he is ready for WX '05. Favre took 6th in Slopestyle at his first Winter X in 2003. He skis year-round, and began in 2003/2004 season with a third at the King of the Globe big air just behind Jon Olsson and a win at the Rip Curl Freeski slopestyle. |
