Hawaii's Malia Manuel is one of the hottest up and coming female surfers in the world today, as evidenced by her amazing victory last year at the U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California. At the time, the event was only the second WQS event that Manuel surfed in, and the 15-year-old from Wailua was competing against a number of veteran pros. Maneel grew up surfing in Kauai in an area that got her accustomed to beachbreak surfing. She's proven versatile in all types of conditions. Manuel is continuing to dominate in 2009. She won the VQS Championships held in Newport Beach in May, pocketing $4000 bucks for the effort. There's little doubt this chick is headed for big things.
