Matt blew his right knee out in Slopestyle at WX 2004 and was forced to undergo surgery.
Riding on a borrowed board (after breaking his own) at his first WX Games and only the fourth pro event of his career, Matt finished a respectable 6th place at WX '03. Matt has made a name for himself through his impressive video parts such as Notice to Appear (9/02) by Standard Films. Considered a rare case, Matt only began competing in 1999 after he was already sponsored.
