Matt has been at WX five times, and has made the final twice. He is on the U.S. Snowboard C team, but spends most of his time detailing cars with his mobile business. At the end of the 2004/5 season, he tore his MCL and hasn't been back on snow since. He's coming off the couch for Winter X, which he calls his favorite event.
A US Snowboard Team member for 2005, Matt has been traning with US Team coach Pete Foley. A good starter and aggressive rider, Matt hasn't had much time to compete because he's been busy with his mobile detailing business. WX '05 will be Matt's 5th WX and he's looking to break his 6th place curse. He has never finished higher than 6th and has three 6th place finishes (SBX '03 and '04 and UltraCross '02).
A member of the US Snowboard Team with his sights set on the 2006 Winter Olympics, Matt placed in the top ten in three-out-of-three boardercrosses during the 2002/2003 season. He also won the Paul Mitchell Ultra-cross at Northstar-at-Tahoe with partner, Jamey Parks. While a 6th place finish at WX '03 is his best to date, Matt hopes to improve that at WX '04, his fourth WX Games. In addition to snowboarding, Matt runs his own mobile detailing business.
Matt collided with teammate Shaun Palmer in the SBX semi-finals at WX Games V. They both went down and missed a chance to medal. Despite that incident, Matt is still on the Palmer team. He is determined to win gold this season and has no problem taking Palmer out again to win. WX VI will be his only Snowboardcross contest this season so he has a lot riding on it.
