Mercedes Nicoll is a Whistler native and a member of the 2006 Canadian Olympic Team. She is an explosive rider throwing out big tricks in her runs like backside 540 to fronside 720 in her first 2 hits. She spends much of the competitive year riding the FIS World Cup circuit moving up steadily in the ranks in '05 and finishing the season in 4th place in the overall FIS Halfpipe Rankings and 3rd in the WSR Halfpipe rankings. Canadian national team member Mercedes Nicoll is known for her smooth back-to-back 540s in the pipe. A former figure skater, Mercedes was invited to several prestigious events in 2004 including Winter X (where she finished 7th), the Ripzone Invitational (4th) and the Abominable Snow Jam (3rd.) She is also a frequent competitor on the FIS World Cup circuit as she's hoping to earn a spot on the Canadian Olympic team for 2006. The 20-year-old Canadian National Team member has been making headway in halfpipe competition since she was 14. Her recent podium finishes were the result of stomped back-to- back 540s and grace that crosses over from a strong figure skating background.
