What Really Happened: Red Bud National MX

Red Bud was another great weekend of racing, filled with not only great on-track action but a fair bit of interesting side-stories too. As an added touch of pizzazz, the Ritchie family (proprietors of the track since it's inception) had these cool dirt 'vessels' made up into trophies for the podium finishers. Since the soil make-up at the track is one of the primary reasons why it is so widely loved within the racing world, it seemed like an appropriate thing to do.

2005 Brown competed in Europe during the supercross season, but returned to race the AMA 125cc Motocross Championship. He earned three back-to-back podium finishes and a win at Budds Creek, Md., before entering a mid-season slump... Raced with Jim's Motorcycle Sales Honda team.

2004 Brown raced in the AMA 250cc Supercross series, his best results 14th-places at San Francisco and Phoenix... He contested the AMA 125cc Motocross Championship, taking an overall win at Buchanan, Mich., and earning four additional overall podium finishes... Raced with Boost Mobile Yamaha team.

2003 Brown was the runner-up for the AMA 125cc East Region Supercross Championship title, earned with a victory at Daytona Beach, Fla., and four additional podium finishes... He raced the first three races in the AMA 250cc Supercross season, earning a 10th place finish at Anaheim, round three... He raced the AMA 125cc U.S. Motocross Championship, taking overall wins at San Bernardino, Calif., and Mt. Morris, Pa... Raced with Pro Circuit Kawasaki team.

I would like to say hello to Mike. I was his substitute teacher when he was in 5th, 6th grade. I remember so well him telling me he was going to travel across America and be a Motocross star. He was an adoreable little boy. Kind to all. If you read this, Mike, I was Ms. Shipley and I had red hair. Very proud of you. You still have that kind face.
