Part of the dream team of amateurs on the City Stars team that branched out all through skateboarding and made names for themselves, Mikey Taylor has made his mark despite being in the game for a relatively short time. After his first major video part in TransWorld Skateboarding's In Bloom, Mikey ... Read More showed that while he could hang with some of the best up-and-coming skaters of the time, his distinctive flavor made him the one to watch in the coming years. His DVS Skate More part showed how his skating had matured as he entered the professional ranks. Able to go big attacking long handrails, and also get technical with intricate ledge combos, Mikey is truly one of the most gifted skateboarders out there.
Born and still living in Newbury Park, California, Mikey first got a taste of the industry riding for City Stars with other amateur heavy-hitters like Paul Rodriguez and Kevin "Spanky" Long. After a stint at the Sovereign Sect offshoot Seek, Mikey found a home at the legendary Alien Workshop, whom he still reps today.
When he's not skating, Mikey can be found hanging out with friends or customizing his Honda Civic for the next street race that pops up.
For Alien Workshop's latest video offering, Mind Field, Mikey put together a classic part that combines his progressive, groundbreaking style of skating with the art-infused visual and audio styling of Alien Workshop. We at etnies are stoked with what Mikey has already done and can't wait to see what else he's got up his sleeve.
While picking up a copy of Mind Field, be sure to pick up a pair of Mikey's first pro shoe, the Taylor, featuring artwork from Don Pendleton, available now from your favorite shop. - Etnies
