| Old school pros voice their thoughts on Olympic Snowboarding Olympic snowboarding is a hot top topic these days, so hot, it's like a blazing inferno. Many shreds are fervently against it, while others support it wholeheartedly. With the recent inclusion of slopestyle snowboarding, set to debut in the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia, many pros have been voicing their opinions on this new mainstream element of the sport. BuOLOco.com is a free space created by Kevin Jones and Ed Segovia where anyone can express their thoughts and feelings on an array of topics. As of late, Olympics snowboarding has been a major discussion point on the site and Ed Segovia has interviewed many influential, older pros for their opinions of Olympics shredding. Each interview offers an insightful, yet different perspective that's worth listening to. Read on to see what Mikey LeBlanc, Scotty Wittlake and Terry Kidwell think about Olympics snowboarding. What's your stance? Words: Scotty Wittlake--www.buoloco.com So, Ed called me and asked me to talk to him about my thoughts on the Olympics, and then to write this paragraph to accompany our conversation. Sorry I went on such rant. It's just that I feel the olympics have the wool pulled over peoples eyes regarding how it operates and what its all about in this day and age. In my opinion, snowboarding is rooted in a scene that doesn't need something Like the Olympics, and todays snowboarders are capable of standing up against it. It's not that I don't believe in the competition side of snowboarding, it's just that I don't think snowboarding needs or should have some corporate entity such as the IOC in charge of its competitions. Especially one that is so detrimental to our environment, which we so desperately need to preserve to be able to maintain snowboarding. Scotty Wittlake Olympics from BuoLoco on Vimeo. Words: Terry Kidwell--www.buoloco.com Are the Olympics good or bad for snowboarding's image? Some like it, some don't. I think it's good for snowboarding. Once every 4 years snowboarding is put on the world's largest stage. I say if you have the talent and want to represent your country, then why not go for it? Terje Haakonson is right though, the snowboarding events need to be organized and run by snowboarders for snowboarders. Not skiers or other organizations. Words: BuOLOco.com Mikey LeBlanc, the backbone of Holden Outerwear, talks about the Olympics and what his perspective is about it. He also mentions that at this point, Holden Outerwear doesn't sponsor anyone that is in to competition. All the different opinions that people bring to the table about the Olympics is very interesting. Mikey LeBlanc Olympics from BuoLoco on Vimeo. What are your thoughts on Olympic Snowboarding? Share your thoughts in the comment section and also at BuOLOco.com Channels: Snow Open Caption: February 2011![]() Mikey LeBlanc may be snowboarding's funnyman, but his riding is nothing to laugh at. As one of the most celebrated snowboarders in the world at the turn of the century, Mikey stepped away from Whitey, Mack Dawg, and KidsKnow films, opting to run two companies instead of a generator. That's not to say the dude isn't still a driving force in modern-day snowboarding--he routinely gets more days on-hill than most, and once strapped in, it's both heavy and hilarious. This month's Open Caption contest features Mikey in a clown suit dropping off the roof of Baldface Lodge in interior BC. Whoever submits the best caption will win a brand spankin' new Holden jacket, courtesy of Mikey and friends. All you have to do is write down your wittiest caption in the comment section below and the editors here at SNOWBOARDER will choose the entry that best fits the photo. We're not clowning around this time. We're looking for a laugh, so polish off the punchlines and get after it. Enter your caption... Free Goods Friday: Ride part 2![]() Ahhh the magical sensation of finding transition. In the time between leaving the ground and the apex of your flight path, speed and pop depending, your destination is unconfirmed. Then that moment, that wonderful moment, when time is halted by the realization that you won't be coming up short, you won't be over shooting, you'll be making transition. In snowboarding, this is as good as it gets, trumped only by making transition in untouched pow. Throughout Ride team rider Mikey Leblanc's career he's boycotted this euphoria as much as possible. He prefers to land his snowboard in places that don't have transition, most of the places he lands couldn't even be called landings. If you said "Hey Mikey, did you make the landing?" he would have no idea what you were talking about. Watch Mikey's nutty ollie to flat HERE and answer the question for a chance to win. Bon Voyage World Premiere In Portland Presented By Videograss![]() If you are up in the Portland area, Oregon area, Northwest area, or are just a straight up road warrior....cruise to Videograss' premiere of their new film "Bon Voyage" August 2nd at Livingroom Theatres with an after party at the Beauty Bar. The teaser in itself was worthy enough of extreme stoke factor so the full length film is sure to be a treat for those who can attend. This shred crew is obviously legit and they party at full speed which will probably result in a raging time at the premiere. We vote "yes" on this one. Don't miss it. Videograss Releases Teaser: "Bon Voyage"Our favorite hipster film crew, Videograss, just dropped their newest teaser entitled, "Bon Voyage." No one really questions the fact that the riding in this film is going to be sick. These guys are damn ballsy and their abilities when strapped on to a snowboard are ridiculous. Their abilities when not strapped onto a snowboard? Questionable. Just kidding. Check the list of names below on who is getting some in this teaser. Full of debauchery, nasty falls, and a group of friends just having an awesome season. Who could go wrong with that mix? Enjoy. Words from VG:
