Description:Nigel Sylvester is a street rider out of the infamous New York street scene that has taken his riding and BMX in general to a new level. With Nike supporting him 100%, he has done more than most professional riders will ever do in their careers already. He is a big time Animal/Skavenger rider. He rides for Dave Mirra's bicycle company and has a signature frame with them. And, of course, he rides for Nike which he has done several big things with. BIG things. Such as a big advertisement in New York on a skyscraper or something. How do you think this kid who just loved riding his bike felt looking at that? He recently also hooked up with Gatorade and did a cool web edit with them.He owns a shop called Format NY and holds jams there and such every now and then. He is also has a blog on high snobiety which is a high-end fashion design website. FEEEL MEEE???

  • Chocolate, But For Your Feet!

If you thought Nigel Sylvester was going to lay low after immense exposure in the past few weeks I'll be blunt with you... you're wrong. After dropping his Because I Grind Tour web videos all over the web, doing a Vital BMX Q & A video, being featured on MAESTRO KNOWS of vimeo with his bike shop, and re-releasing his Mirraco signature frame this year (which looks better than ever)... Nigel is still on the grind releasing his signature Nike MAVRK shoes (AVAILABLE NOW!)

The coolest thing about Nigel's release of his new shoes is that they are a serious sneaker collector item. This one isn't just for the ratty BMX kids trying to sport their favorite rider's kicks. The 'Chocolate' Mavrk shoe has shown up on popular fashion websites such as High Snobiety and Sneaker Files. The shoes are officially called "Chocolate, but for your feet." At least I think that's the full name. I suppose it's appropriate to abbreviate these shoes as simply "CHOCOLATE."

400 pairs were produced and so far I have only heard of them being sold through DAN'S COMP. So hit up Dan's to order because they're available right now...

Look at me, getting ahead of myself. Let's talk sneakers! Let me start off with the interior (yes, I said interior like it's a luxury automobile). When we're talking fashion forward sneakers you can't go wrong with purple. It sticks out but at the same time it isn't sticking out too much like lime green or preppy pink. The interior's diamond pattern reminds me of a nice jacket. Nigel is from Queens, NY and some would say he is the BMX King of Queens so purple and gold are only fitting for his signature shoe.

Of course the sole is designed for BMX usage. Sticky gum soles to hug your pedals tight. This is especially important for all you plastic pedalers out there who need the extra grip to avoid the slip. The shoes are also extra flex so you don't feel like you're wearing blocks on your feet that are just sitting on your pedals. You want to hug the pedals with your feet to achieve maximum control of foot placement. The tongue strap keeps the shoe tight on your feet so there's no wobble and you won't have your shoe fall off when you take a dive. That doesn't look cool kids, seriously.

Did I mention some of the materials used for these kicks are ostrich leather and crocodile leather? This is truly a King's luxury pair of sneaks...

  • BMX and Vimeo

I have been gathering videos for the DAILY DUMP of web videos I have now started and realized this odd thing. I don't think anybody uses vimeo as much as the BMX community. Maybe high quality film makers use vimeo more because they like the output of their player better and all, but EVERY video I picked for today's DAILY DUMP is from vimeo...

Do we BMX riders have some quarrel with youtube? Oh, that's right, youtube pretty much sucks... might as well start uploading to grindtv. Much better audience to upload to anyway. Get sponsored! Shoot!

Jesse Whaley with Eddie Cleveland, Meron Seyum, Josh Smith, Skyler Ellingson, and Andrew Fullerton in this new Lotek web video.

Jaumell Campbell of Macneil Bikes released this web edit for 2009. All I can say is LONG OVERDUE...

I guess MAESTRO KNOWS is like a vimeo blogger... or something. Here's a VLOG of his with NIGEL SYLVESTER.

Looks like the local San Diego kids are killing it at the local skatepark jams. Buncha little Enarsons in this...

Ben Hucke has entirely too many web videos out. Luckily, they are all worth watching... so watch it!

Agh. Here's what riding a skatepark is. I need to hit that park. Guaranteed Wolfman will be there...

Lotek's latest web video with Jason Enns. Have you ever not wanted to watch him ride? Exactly...

Chris Brown for Volume Bikes. Another great edit along with all the ones this week. Gotta love LA too...

  • Nike 6.0 is "Beating Gasoline..."

Being an avid bicycle rider myself, hey that reminds me I should make a video, I enjoy the bike ride to and from work (this office). Passing LA traffic and laughing at people in beamer convertibles completely stopped trying to get home. I get my daily exercise, I save loads of money, and apparently I am saving the Earth... the benefits are wildly obvious and I find it strange I see about one or two bikers during my daily trips and a THOUSAND CARS!

    from rideBMX:

    "Press Release:

Enarson, Garrett Reynolds, Nigel Sylvester, and Mike Spinner, who
