But his incredible surfing has him rapidly climbing the top of the global rankings. In June of 2009, he took over the top spot on the WQS rankings after an incredible win at the 6-Star Prime SriLankan Airlines Pro, held in the Maldives. Wright has been a dominant force on the Pro Junior circuit in Australia for years, yet now the world is just starting to realize how good this kid is. Even Wright is surprised by how fast he's been able to rise up the WQS rankings. "I was focusing on winning the ASP Pro Junior season in Australia and doing a few WQS events to get the experience," he said after his historic win in a final heat that many judges were calling one of the best they've ever seen. "But now I'm definitely looking to win the WQS and qualify for the ASP World Tour." Sponsors | ||||||||||||
