Aspen area local Peter Olenick is part of a select group of skiers who can podium in both superpipe and slopestyle at any given contest. He made a splash at WX in 2004 when he came out of nowhere and double medaled in SuperPipe (3rd) and Slopestyle (2nd). Since '04, Peter's ski career has boomed. He picked up another set of podium results at the 2005 World Skiing Invitational in Whistler, BC CAN where he finished 3rd in superpipe and 2nd in slopestyle. Peter is a strong technical skier who always throws hard tricks even if it means falling.
Every year a skier from the WX Qualifier goes on to kill it at WX. 2004 was no different when hometown Aspen favorite Peter Olenick (who qualified for SuperPipe and Slopestyle two weeks before WX '04) went on to podium in both Slopestyle (2nd) and SuperPipe (3rd). Success at WX paved the way for Olenick who went on to film with companies such as Poor Boyz, Level 1, and TGR the rest of the '04 season. Look for Olenick to take a stab at the podium again at WX '05.
Peter grew up in Carbondale, CO, just down the road from Aspen. Though he is a sophomore at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT studying business, Peter takes the winters off to pursue his freeskiing career. Peter is a high-energy skier who qualified for both Slopestyle and SuperPipe at WX at the 2004 Paul Mitchell X Qualifier in Breckenridge, CO. At 6'1", Olenick is the tallest skier in Slopestyle, and the second tallest skier in the SuperPipe.
