VideosBiographyYou know you're stoked on snowboarding when your life's devoted to passing along the gospel of shred and 's Robin Van Gyn to a tee. A true snowboarding missionary, Robin divides her time between attacking the Whistler backcountry and coaching/managing MGT Snowboard Camp for Girls. This hilarious and charismatic Canadian is both a longtime coach and the event/marketing manager for MGT, as well as head women's coach at South America Snow Sessions a camp held every summer in Bariloche, Argentina. Far from distracting her from her pro career, Robin?s camp involvement keeps her on the snow year round and continually stoking the fire to ride. A Whistler local by way of Calgary, Alberta (where she attended University and first linked up with MGT), Robin has established herself as a big-mountain dominator and one of the few women in pro-snowboarding who sleds to ride. At any given time she can be found biting into big lines in the B.C. backcountry, as well as navigating the cliffs, pillow lines, and powder kickers found in and around Whistler exploits that have appeared regularly in the magazines and on film in Runway's See What I See. She's also won a litany of big-air and park-oriented events, most recently earning the honors of "Best Babe" at the 2009 Grenade Games. One of our favorite Canadians on the planet, Robin is also one of the 50 coolest Canadians according to Nissan Canada. Yep, she won a brand new Nissan Cube car this spring in the company's Hypercube contest to reward the "50 most creative Canadians." She didn't get much time in her new ride, though, because it was immediately off to the Southern Hemi to spend the summer riding and coaching. As for the '09/10 winter season, Robin's launching a full-on filming attack."I'd really like to get a wicked video part going this year!" she claims and if you haven't figured it out by now, anything this determined lady puts her mind to, she does in spades. |
