Vans has been making some noise on the wire lately, dropping an edit with Ryan Guettler (above) chatting about his updated signature kicks, the Whip 2, and a flat/street edit with Germany's Michael Steingraeber, both below.

They also recently announced a fat contest with a chance to win a bunch of top-end Guettler gear, including his aforementioned shoe and assorted Vans threads, his signature Mirraco frame, a grip of Colony parts, and a Pro-Tec helmet. Enter here, and do it by May 31st.

According to Vital, Vans is also releasing a book this summer covering 40 years of history from the notorious brand, covering the "action sports legends, musicians, artists, and trendsetters that inspired it all," along with a look at the shoes (duh), interviews, stories, etc. Should be a good read. The blogs over on the Vans site have been pretty active lately, so add them to your daily rounds.

Rob Darden is laying the foundation for one hell of a 2009, scoring the win at the Extreme Thing in Las Vegas in March (video below) and following up with another win last weekend in Germany at the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds Dirt Session. Corey Bohan and Ryan Guettler finished 2nd and 3rd, with Ryan Nyquist, who won the XBox 360 challenge at the same event, in 4th.

Darden's been on a pretty hardcore health kick for over a year, after deciding to do all he can to be stronger after suffering a wrist injury early in '08. He even quit drinking back in March '08, and the payoffs have been big, with multiple Dew Tour podiums and an X Games SuperPark podium in summer '08. With these two wins early in '09, Darden's shaping up as the man to beat - in both Dirt and Park.
