The older brother of East Coast teammate Cory Lopez, Shea had a long run on the WCT (9 years) and holds two year end rankings of 11 in 2000 and 2002. Major knee surgery sidelined him for the 2004 season, and he has been trying to regain a position on the WCT since. Shea is a new dad to six-month old baby girl, Lina.

Recovering from a serious knee injury in 2004, X Games X will be Shea's first competition back in the water. Shea is a ten year veteran of the WCT tour and is known for his overall versatility in surfing. His spot on the WCT has been proven at big wave locations such as Jeffreys Bay, South Africa and Tavarua, Fiji.
