  • Biography

Stephen Murray is a professional BMX rider who did so much in dirt jumping. He was a dirt jumper to the core also. He and Cory Nastazio would just dig dig dig and jump jump jump pushing each other to crazy new tricks and totally rearranging the ideas of what was possible or not on a bicycle.

Unfortunately, Stephen Murray would suffer from that constant push and that willingness to ride beyond anybody's imagination. In 2007, during the Dew Tour in Maryland, he sort of looped out doing a double backflip and lost control in air. He came down in a violent way and you can tell by the way he was lying on the ground something really bad had happened. He suffered extreme injuries to his spinal cord/vertebrae paralyzing him from the neck down.

With the support of the BMX community and all of his best riding friends, Stephen has been able to work on his physical condition while still raising his son at home. His kid is riding bikes and Stephen wouldn't have it any other way.

Murray is said to have gained some slight motion in his shoulders, fingers, and even toes. There are hopes for Stephen to walk once again. Time will tell. Stay Strong Stephen Murray. (That's his clothing line for his cause, buy a t-shirt and donate to the Murray family. StayStrongApparel.com)
