    Regarded as one of the best surfers on the WCT tour by his peers Taylor seems to be perennially unlucky when it comes to competition, though. In addition to touring the world on the WCT, Taylor also surfs for the San Diego Sea Lions in the NSL and competes in select WQS events.

    Taylor hit surf celebrity status in 1998 when he dropped into a 52-foot monster right at Todos Santos, winning the Reef Big Wave World Championships and taking top honors in the inaugural K2 Big Wave Challenge. Taylor finished the 2003 season ranked 7th in world. His top career finish was 4th on the WCT tour in 2001.
