    Hermunen gets maiden GP victory ahead of new S1 leader Thomas Chareyre

    Mauno Hermunen achieved his maiden Grand Prix victory in the unique track of Pleven after taking the Superpole over Thomas Chareyre, Thierry Van Den Bosch and Davide Gozzini. Second overall was Thomas Chareyre, who managed to get the red plate back, and third was his team mate Davide Gozzini, lying second in the Championship, level in points with Chareyre.

    Thierry had a dream '02 season, winning both the FIM Supermoto World Championship and the European Supermoto Championship. He left SM to try road racing in 2003, but nerve problems in his right shoulder limited his success. In '04, he'll once again campaign in Supermoto. Thierry is from the tiny country of Andorra.
