Once called the "fastest US surfer since Kelly Slater", Morcom has made a name for himself by charging big waves. Even fellow team members like Sam Hammer are quick to float Morcom props. "My favorite surfer down here (Puerto) is Todd Morcom because he knows this wave better than anyone and when he surfs it you know why he's on the team." In 2003, Todd was actually an assistant coach for the East Coast team.

Having first served as an assistant coach of the East Coast team in X Games 2003, Todd Morcom rejoins the team ranks in 2005 as a surfer. In 1997, Todd was awarded "Barrel of the Year" in Surfer magazine for catching a ten-foot barrel in Puerto Escondido, Mexico, the site of the 2005 X Games.
