Trent is a more explosive surfer than anyone in the top 44 truly realizes. He possesses the raw talent and power surfing to upset any competitor. But he will have to pass through the typical WQS-qualifier pattern -- ie, develop a full understanding of the WCT man-on-man gig -- before he can push his skills down the throat of the system. He may find this more difficult than otherwise -- his sheer talent level should have qualified him at least a year ago, indicating that the process of adapting to the judging does not always come easily to him. His surfing displays roughened edges that may be penalized as well as rewarded by the demanding WCT judges.
