He picked it back up in an effort to make the '02 Olympic Team. Tyler didn't make the '02 squad, but continued competing with his eyes set on the '06 Olympic run where he became the only man to represent the U.S. in alpine racing. UPDATE Tyler started the season out strong, notching out two World Cup top-10 results and landing a spot on the World Championship team. Sadly, it was a season cut short for Jewell when the racing star hurt his knee in the start gate. He managed to still race at the Championships, which garnered him a 10th, and sat the rest of the season out to recuperate. FIRST TRACKS He was a skier from before he can remember and then picked up snowboarding one day at the mountain with his older brother. When a college degree beckoned in the Nineties, Tyler opted for the education, but returned to snowboarding in '99-00 with refueled Olympic dreams.
