  • About

Ueli is a four-time competitor at WX with two gold medals in SBX to his credit, not to mention an Olympic bronze medal in giant slalom ('98, Nagano, JPN). A skilled holeshot-grabber who has speed and technique in difficult turns on his side, he is looking to regain podium status at WX '06, as well as qualify for the Swiss Olympic team for the inaugural snowboard cross event at Torino in Feb. '06. SBX may be where he gets his credentials, but Ueli's first love is freeriding: He has been taking trips to Alaska since the mid-'90s and claims those ungroomed, often unridden, runs help him recall a boardercross course down to its finest nuances.
Ueli is returning to Winter X '05 looking to three-peat gold. A former alpine racer who has an Olympic bronze medal from GS in 1998, Ueli began competiting in FIS boardercross events in 2004, the first time he's attended FIS events since 2002 when he retired from alpine racing. He won a FIS race in France in March '04. Off the boardercross course, Ueli is an accomplished big mountain and freerider.
Ueli came from the top of the alpine racing world and won a gold medal at Winter X 2003, despite it being his first boardercross competition since 2001. Now that he has acheived his alpine goals for snowboarding, including two world champion titles in 2000 and 2001 and an Olympic bronze in 1998, Ueli is focusing more on freestyle and boardercross competitions.
