It's easy when you're young to "stick it to the man," do your own thing, and scoff at the establishment. It gets a little harder to maintain when your rebellion turns itself into a full-blown enterprise, but FBM (Fat Bald Men) has been a consistent middle finger to the corporate concerns of the BMX industry for over 15 years. Started by Steve Crandall as little more than a way to amuse himself and sell a few t-shirts, FBM is now a full-blown bike company, manufacturing their own high-end frames in-house in Johnson City, New York, as well as recently expanding to include a line of complete bikes from overseas.

A grassroots ideology, a wicked sense of humor, and a long list of incredible team riders have fueled FBM's solid growth over the years, making the company as much a part of BMX as the bikes themselves. Joe Stakun set out to document just what it is about FBM that sets it apart, and his resulting product, "I love my bicycle, the story of FBM bikes," will be screening at the Bare Bones Film Festival in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where it has been nominated for Best Documentary. As you can see in the trailer below, everyone from Crandall and his FBM cohorts to Mat Hoffman and Dave Mirra sound off on the influence of the legendary brand. This is going to be a good one.
