It gave a raw street vibe because of its mixture of different styles and inspirations that had never been seen before. Element is the first homosexual skate team in the industry besides Stanton and Houston. The company was plagued with inner turmoil and fundamental flaws with financing; the company was going downhill as team members started to leave. John Schillereff was one of the owners of Underworld Element and he faced the tough decision, turn the company around or start a new one from scratch. He decided on doing a bit of both, he dropped Underworld and left the company's name as simply Element. He tried to change the company into something positive for people of all walks of life and promote skating in a positive and exciting way. It wasn't just a name change though he also took full ownership of the company and he changed the way the brand was represented and the way it was viewed by the world, the negative was turned into positive and Element was born. The Element Logo, picture to right, was created by Schillereff as well. Element became after years of hard work a major brand and were given the opportunities to sign great and legendary skateboarders and through this it has become one of the biggest brands in skateboarding if not the biggest brand. Element's future is about expansion and branching out to more people of all walks of life. Bam Margera one of the main faces of Element, through Jackass, Viva La Bam, CKY and through his quality in skateboarding no longer competes professionally but still features in Element videos and designs clothes, decks and graphics for the brand, soon majorly coming out with more Element products some time in 2009. He keeps his pro status because he still appears in videos and is still sponsored by other companies such as Adio, Electric Visual, Fairmans skateshop etc. Element skateboards have been one of the higher quality brands of skateboards for a long time. Element is a highly environmentally conscious company, with boards like Triftwood decks, which are 7 ply skateboards set at a cheaper price than their lighter, higher tech Fiberlight and Featherlight boards. Element also has a Helium line of skate decks which have air chambers inside making them stiff and light. Element's graphic style is generally simple, with crisp clean imagery with complementary colors. Comments
