A D V E R T I S E M E N T DetailsHeadquarters:8750 Research Drive Phone: (877) 327-4484 Sports:Snowboarding Website: | Top 10 Fixes To Cure The Shakes (From Your Winter Withdrawals)![]() It's that time of year again. The dreaded last couple of months before winter when we fellow snowboarders begin to feel like alcoholics with a case of the shakes, in search of the nearest liquor store. There is one upside to this time...new snowboard videos! So, in an attempt to reduce my case of the shakes before the 2009 films are released I've made a list of my personal top 10 trailers of the season - the full length films will be dropping this month or next. Enjoy. 10) MFM Inc. and Finger on Da Trigga - "Hard to Earn" - People may have mixed views about MFM but my point is this: a ton of awesome shots and unique camera angles always prove to make a video worth watching and the riding more impressive. Plus, they use a great song...Sam & Dave - Hold on I'm Comin'. Give it a chance. 9) The Background Collective - "Me, Myself, and I - The Todd Richards Story" - Pretty much because Todd Richards is hilarious and anything that is about him will make any of my top 10 lists. It's made by the same director that made "Against the Grain" (the Tara Dakides documentary) but has a completely different feel to it, hence, the ridiculous flashbacks to the 70's.He's been shredding forever and it shows, plus, he's a cool dude. I'm sold. 8) Flow - "Bad Reputation" - This documentary is a) FREE and b) a ridiculous account of 6 weeks on the road with Flow's team. C'mon...it's got a lot of partying...and personally, I think drunkenness contributes to ballsier snowboarding. 7) Ashbury and Holden - "Videograss" - I'm just stoked to see this one because there are so many young insanely good jibbers in it and they continue to blow my mind with their video parts (cough Keegan Valaika). It's got a mellow feel...and ya know what? I like that. 6) Burton - "The B" - Well...its Burton. Burton puts out some pretty sweet stuff...like, always. This year, they felt the need to release different versions of this trailer including a backwards version.Just because of that, they made my prestigious top 10. . 5) Forum Snowboards - "Forever" - Let's be honest, everyone is curious to see the next project that Forum is putting out. After "Forum or Against Em'" you've got to believe that their next film will be equally impressive and earn a permanent spot in your DVD player. 4) Alterna Films - "Elektro" - Whoever was in charge of the opening scene in this trailer had to know that it would win me over, no questions asked. If you haven't seen this trailer yet, simply put; dance party to "Sandstorm" by Darude. That combined with HD and all the riders going huge...well, you can't go wrong. 3) Transworld Snowboarding - "Get Real" - Transworld's 2nd snowboard film ever. I mean, they always seem to have the sickest footage and an unlimited amount of creativity. This trailer had me running around in my outerwear in August. 2) People Creative - "Nice Try" - "Nice Try" has the advantage of winning my number two spot because I love Shaun Mckay and Seth Huot and think they are awesome riders. Also, I'm a huge fan of People's past work with "We're People Too" and "Down with People". This trailer, however, has an amazing scene involving a coin toss while they debate whether or not to stay and get drunk or be responsible and get to Whistler to shred. Underrated. Teasin' Season: "Forever Forum", "How the Northwest Was One", and So "Much![]() Welcome to another installment of Teasin' Season- where we waste time searching the internet for this year's best snowboarding and skiing movie trailers so you don't have to. The movies are set to drop in September, but the filmers are leaking shots now. "How the Northwest Was One" This first trailer may be the most genius we've seen yet. Yeah, you may not have heard of many of the riders featured in the "How the Northwest Was One" teaser- but watching them play chicken with a train to get the shot (in HD) on a railroad guardrail totally makes up for the lack of big name riders. These North Westerners have balls of steel and tricks to back up their manhood. Watch the teaser and enter the world of 2012 "where the snowboard industry is non-existent, riders fight each other to survive, and bounty filmers seek out the most notorious posse of snowboarding outlaws in the Northwest with a will to obtain the best shots... that will be paid for in blood." The guy doing the announcing is classic. "Forum Forever" For the sixth year Forum Snowboards is releasing their team inspired video "Forum Forever". Besides the expected progression of the riders and the quiet disappearance of ex-Forum rider Travis Kennedy, things haven't changed much on the Forum front. Lot's of snowmobiling, powder pushing, double corks and double high-fives from the Jakes' (Blauvelt and Welch), creativity from Peter Line and Eddie Wall, weird hair-do's and wigs from Stevie Bell and John Jackson, and the requisite mix tape of street sessions, backcountry booters and powder slashes from the rest of the gang. Forum consistently comes out with banger video's and, from the looks of this teaser, 2009 will be no different. "So Much To Say" Vaca Films comes out early and strong in the Snowboard Teaser race of 2009, with a surprisingly clean and artsy edit that includes underground riders we don't get to see enough of. (Ben Rice, John Foy, Nick Visconti and Jake Devine- to name a few.) Dolly shots, panorama's of Lake Tahoe and the music of Ghostland Observatory (Song: Sad Sad City) make a nice combination for this Tahoe based crew. And while we're on the topic of Tahoe, did anyone catch this little nugget posted the other week? Artsy Fartsy SnowsySo, I went to the SIA tradeshow in Vegas two weeks ago, it's pretty much the snow industry's ASR. Well anyway, I'm not that into snowboarding, I mean I like it and everything, but I'm not "The Snow Guy." And when you read "The Snow Guy," pronounce "The," like "THEE." You know, show some respect for whoever "The Snow Guy" is. For some people I know, he's a Colombian guy named Sanchez. Back to SIA. Since I wasn't sure what I was going to do there, I gave myself a project. Probably my favorite part of snowboarding is the art on the boards, so my objective was to document the latest snowboard art. Now, these boards are for next year, so you're not going to be able to buy them anywhere. You're just going to have to wait. Check out the photos below. Oh yeah, and the one up top, that's Bob Ross, the guy who used to paint all those happy little trees. You know, from that show, "The Joy of Painting."
