  • DVS & Matix sponsor Hermosa Snow Fest

We can't resist. We want snowboarding to invade the beach. It's just what we do. The snow shredding is once again returning to the Los Angeles beach town of Hermosa Beach on Saturday December 10. Pier Avenue will be taken over by sloppy snowboard fiends jonesing for just a chance to witness some riding in the City of Angels, mere feet from the sand.

Spyder Surfboards will bring 60 tons of man-made snow and transform Hermosa into a 70 degree Winter Wonderland. The event starts at 1PM and is estimated to last until around 4:30 PM. Head over to www.spydersurf.com for more details to come.

  • Matix discontinuing Girls line....for now

Well it's a sad day ladies, a sad day indeed.

Matix announced that after this Holiday Season 2011 they will be putting their women's line on hiatus to better focus on the men's.

Although an unfortunate sign of the times, Let's hope that this is only temporary.
In the meantime I have no problem purchasing the men's shirts and hand customizing to fit my fancy.

So go out (run don't walk) and grab all the women's Matix you can get your hands on.

Here is the official announcement that Podium distribution sent to its sales force about the change.

"Matix Clothing Company is announcing the decision to take a break from its Girls' business after the Holiday 2011 season. With our Men's business continuing to grow and gain traction globally, this decision will allow the staff more time to focus on its strategic growth plan through marketing, sales and design. We feel like our new plan will further push the brand to focus on what we are best at.

"Although Matix has experienced great success with its Girls' line, we have decided to take a step back and evaluate where we feel the girls segment fits in the current retail environment. We would like to thank everyone for all their support over the first 10 years and look forward to tightening our relationships and business model moving forward."

  • Matix Introduces Capitol Collection: A Tribute To The US

    GrindTV Newswire, Via Matix Clothing:
(August 20, 2010) Matix recently launched its Capital Collection--a premium line of made-and-sourced in the-USA denim, T-shirts, and cut-and-sew pieces. Each item in the line is hand built by American workers in the U.S.A..

Matix took some time to put together a video that chronicles what goes into producing the Made in the USA Capital Collection.

Matix Design Director Mike Gomez says the Capital Collection is designed to build awareness around the quickly vanishing art of American clothing manufacturing and to shine a light upon the quality produced by those that still take pride in the craft.

"It's surprisingly difficult at this point in time to make stuff in the US," says Gomez. "There's just not a lot of factories in existence that can do this work."

Matix VP Brian Dunlap says in addition to using the superior quality of American made textiles, Capital Collection designers went the distance and challenged themselves to source everything, down to the trimming domestically.

"There's a lot of stuff you see that says Made-In-The-USA," says Dunlap. "But many of the components that go into these products are actually made overseas. The thing that sets this collection apart is that we've gone to great lengths to actually build every trim, every zipper, every item of all the collection's pieces in the USA."In association with the product, Matix produced a video segment highlighting the status of domestic manufacturing and showing the processes and people that still make it happen. Get to know the United States of America's garment industry, the passion and dedication behind domestic production and why Matix is an advocate for 'American Made'.

The Capital Collection is currently shipping and will be available at retailers globally.
