Willy Browning. He’s a recurring subject of my pics and for good reason: he’s an insanely talented rider, always looks good, and will try anything at least once. We got together for a MiniMoto cover shoot (since he’s pretty much been the poster boy for pitbike racing the past 6 years or so) and this is what we came up with. Q flash held out of frame by Mikey Campbell, we hit up some truly crazy quarry area just outside of Newark, Ohio for this pic. We got a ton of great stuff that day, but this was the gem. More Willy B., this time flying high for what I think was a One Ind. catalog shoot. As simple as this is, it still ranks in my top 10 of all-time favorites and no matter how may times I try to explain why, Willy just can’t understand why. Canon 1D Mark 2, 16-35mm. (Jeff Kardas Photo)

This is one of those shots that is sort of too perfect to be real, and in a way, it is. It’s Mike Sleeter wearing the never-before-seen One Industries gear at the KTM test track in Southern California. Shot the week after the 2008 Lakewood National, I went out to make that stuff look as good as possible: rented some big studio lights, hired an assistant, and the One guys brought everything they had to make it look great. It was 104F that day, but it didn’t matter because I just knew we were making magic, and I dunno, based on this one, I think I was right. Canon 1Ds Mark 2, 70-200. (Jeff Kardas Photo)
