  • About

Pacífico is a 4.5% abv pale lager originally brewed in Mazatlán, Sinaloa. The name means Pacific. The picture on the bottle is the Deer Islands off the coast of Mazatlán surrounded by a lifesaver.

Cerveza Pacífico Pacifico Clara is a Mexican pilsner-style beer. It was first brewed in 1900 when three Germans opened a brewery, the Cerveceria del Pacífico in Mazatlán. Cerveza Pacifico is named so because the Pacifico brewery is located in the Pacific Ocean port city of Mazatlán, in the state of Sinaloa, México. The picture inside the lifesaver depicts local islands Las Islas de los venados, which means the deer islands. The locals ask for it as a "Pacificoballena" which means "Pacific Whale". The "ballena" is a reference to the larger one liter bottles, colloquially known as "whales" (there is a whale tail visible on the labeling). "Clara" means clear.

The Pacifico brewery was bought by Mexican brewing giant Grupo Modelo in 1954. The Anheuser-Busch company now owns a little more than half of Grupo Modelo.
