Sierra is known for their prime park set ups and this jib contest was no exception. With zone 1 consisting of a killer wall ride, accessible from multiple angles, zone 2 made up of a down box, and zone 3 capping it off with a rider's right C-box - the level of fun was up there with the ball-pits you bee lined to at Chuck E. Cheese's. The mountain was at it's prime after Mother Nature partied a little too hard on New Year's Eve and puked fresh snow all over Sierra all weekend. The riders were amped and showed it by charging the set up all day. Check the results and video below and for more details on how it all went down check out Volcom's recap. Next stop: Mt. Snow-vember has arrived; various resorts opening this weekendRemember the time you came up with the best party idea ever and sent an invite out to all your friends, making sure they cleared their schedule for your party cause it was gonna be that cool? Then, later you come to find out that all the other kids in your class decided to throw parties at the SAME time? That's kind of how this weekend is. Opening weekend for a whole lot of mountains. The difference here is no one has to miss out because everyone has their own personal shindig to go to. ![]() Mammoth Mountain is opening tomorrow, November 11, being the second California resort to open this year, following Boreal, located in Truckee, CA which opened at the end of October. Being located right smack in the middle of Northern CA and Southern CA, Cali shredders far and wide will be road tripping to Mammoth ready to strap in, take over some opening parties at Hyde Lounge, and rock out to The Sounds. Also scheduled to open on Thursday is Brighton Resort in Utah. They've said they will have Majestic and Snake Creek Express chairlifts open with limited trail access. All the Salt Lake dwellers will have their local mountain to slide down and will probably be celebrating as much as person is allowed to celebrate in Utah. With all the rules over there, who knows what can go down. Brighton is also honoring Veterans Day; offering any vet or active military free skiing. Colorado riders, who are lucky enough to have multiple mountains already open, will now be able to take laps through their favorite park at Breckenridge. Breck will open on Friday, November 12th with three lifts running and a free breakfast of "BreckBerry French Toast" for those of you who can manage to set alarm clocks and get to the hill early. The deal is offered to the first 1,000 skiers and riders starting at 8:30 a.m. The West Coast seems to be realizing its time for Winter, however, for resorts like Mountain High and Bear Mountain, they have been trying to give nature a swift kick in the ass by starting their snowmaking in order to get their lifts up and running as well. In Lake Tahoe, Heavenly and Sierra-at-Tahoe are also planning to open with tentative dates next week and over Thanksgiving. Check back with GrindTV for more updates on opening days. Channels: Snow La Nina hits Tahoe, allowing for scheduled opening day at HeavenlyGrindTV Newswire, Via Heavenly Mountain Resort: Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev. - (November 8, 2010) La Nina made its first appearance of the year at Lake Tahoe, blanketing Heavenly Mountain Resort with eight to 12 inches of new snow. Cold temperatures and scattered snow showers are predicted this week, providing ideal conditions for the West Coast's largest snowmaking system to create the best snow surfaces at Lake Tahoe for Heavenly's opening day, scheduled for Friday, November 19, weather and conditions permitting. Under optimum conditions, Heavenly can cover 73 percent of its trails in machine-made snow, by far the most in the Lake Tahoe Basin. In more visual terms, Heavenly can produce three-and-a-half feet of snow over one acre in an hour. That's enough snow to blanket a football field with eight-and-a-half feet during an average three-hour game."These early storms are great for creating that base we're going to need to get open by November 19," said John Wagnon, Heavenly's vice president of marketing and sales. "With a little help from Mother Nature, the West Coast's largest snowmaking system will ensure our guests experience the best and most consistent snow surfaces that Lake Tahoe has to offer." With the combined power of Mother Nature and the West Coast's largest snowmaking system creating excellent early-season conditions, it is the perfect time to purchase Lake Tahoe's best snowsports value - the $379 Heavenly/Northstar season pass. The Adult (ages 19-64) Heavenly/Northstar Pass is valid for unlimited skiing/riding at Heavenly, Northstar-at-Tahoe and Sierra-at-Tahoe during the 2010/2011 winter season except the following seven (7) restricted days at Heavenly and Northstar: December 27-31, 2010 and February 19-20, 2011 and the following ten (10) restricted days at Sierra: December 26-31, 2010, January 15-16, 2011 and February 19-20, 2011. All told, the Heavenly/Northstar pass offers 9,800 acres, 232 trails, 63 lifts, 16 terrain parks, and two new base villages bundled into one incredible package. Throw in Heavenly's new, 15,000-square-foot on-mountain lodge and unlimited and unrestricted half-off daily tickets at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and Keystone, and this pass borders on unbelievable. Heavenly is also offering its popular "Half-Off Heavenly" vacation package where guests ski or ride four days and stay four nights starting at just $52 per person, per night. This offer is valid November 21 through November 25, 2010, and November 28 through December 16, 2010.
