Omar Salazar, backside tailslide "Omar annihilated this ledge in a matter of minutes and the back tail was the highlight for sure. It was not an easy approach either. He had to go mach 10 around a corner while simultaneously ollieing a grate, then take two quick pushes, and set up right before a crack-riddled bump. A sick example of Omar's raw power."Â--Jonathan Mehring, photo FEATURES ![]() pg 50 ![]() pg 62 ![]() pg 72 DEPARTMENTS 18 Squawk Box The news and other gossip. 20 HOWL Glen E. SKATEBOARDER MAGAZINE'S 2ND ANNUAL BEST TRICK & SKATE JAM HELPS A CHILD'S WISH COME TRUE FOR THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION® OF GREATER LOS ANGELES San Clemente, CA (April 28, 2011) - SKATEBOARDER Magazine is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Make-A-Wish Foundation Best Trick & Skate Jam Benefit on Saturday, May 28, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Stoner Skate Plaza in Los Angeles, California. "With the success of last year's event, we knew we had to do it again this year," said Jaime Owens, Editor of SKATEBOARDER Magazine. "We're hoping it will be bigger and better this year and raise even more money for an incredible cause that we can all get behind." This event will help the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant the wish of a child who has yet to be determined. "We are so fortunate to have SKATEBOARDER Magazine as a wonderful partner," said Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles Corporate Alliances Manager, Brooke Dafesh. "We truly appreciate all of the money raised to help us continue to grant the wishes of children." Last year, the event raised more than $3,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles and enhanced the wish of 18-year-old Brian, who wished to have filmmaking equipment. Not only did he get to use his new camera to film pro skaters at the Skate Jam that day, but he also received filming tips from SKATEBOARDER's own Jaime Owens, met and hung out with pros like Ryan Sheckler, Joey Brezinski, and Lance Mountain who autographed his poster and collab SKATEBOARDER-Black Label deck. This year's event is located at Stoner Park, 1835 Stoner Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90025-1841 and open to the public to attend. The Make-A-Wish Foundation Best Trick & Skate Jam Benefit boasts the opportunity to witness the top names in professional skateboarding compete in a series of "Best Trick" contests. And once again, the fine folks at SPoTlight Productions will be lending their time, talents, and expertise to judge and announce at the event. "They are such a respected and professional crew in the skate industry," Jaime Owens said, "it is a no-brainer to have them involved." A special thanks to Red Bull. Without their involvement, this event would not be possible.
