  • TGR and Jeremy Jones go even "Further"

Brace yourselves for even more cracked-out and committed film from Teton Gravity Research and the mad-man himself, Jeremy Jones. After releasing the monumental film, "Deeper" last year that changed how so many in the snow industry, hell, in any industry viewed big mountain riding. The boundaries that were broken, the determination, and amount of work put into it seemed insurmountable. Guess it only makes sense that the same fearless group of people would be the ones to turn this insane project into a trilogy.

"Further" is the second installment of this ambitious project and presents even more first descents, matchless terrain, and unparalleled experiences that ultimately have impacted not only Jones but the entire group involved for good. Terje Haakonsen, Xavier De Le Rue, DCP, Nicolas Müller, Lucas Debari, Josh Dirksen, Forrest Shearer, and Ryland Bell are the passionate and talented riders in this film so in simply knowing that, one can only imagine what will make up this film.

  • World Premiere: 'One for the Road'

    By Matt Hansen

"Life on the road is an unpredictable affair."

With these words, Teton Gravity Research launches its latest tribute to hardcore ski action, One For The Road. The film--which made its world premiere Saturday in Jackson, Wyo.--sets out to capture the craziness, drama and migratory nature of skiers chasing down a dream. While there's nothing new about the concept of a ski road trip, TGR provides a fresh look to its genre-defining approach by way of bringing in new athletes, never-before-seen angles and cinematography, and a relatively cohesive narrative.

Standout performances go to Todd Ligare, TGR rookie Griffin Post, and big mountain heavy Ian McIntosh, who breaks his femur on camera in a segment that will go down as one of the most intense, exciting and jaw-dropping as anything ever filmed. Mac's entire segment leaves viewers with one reaction: Holybleepingshit. The down-to-earth and good-natured Canadian is an animal, and proves that, despite the nasty crash and life-threatening injury, he could be the best big-mountain skier on the planet.

  • TGR's Todd Jones: "Wisdom of a Road Warrior

    By Will Eginton

Teton Gravity Research has established itself as one of the premier production companies in the industry. Todd Jones, one of TGR's founders and producers, talks to Powder.com about building park features deep in the backcountry, an epic Alaska trip in a new location, and an unprecedented trip to Iceland--all in the making of TGR's latest and forthcoming film, One for the Road. Despite some setbacks due to snowpack, the TGR crew kept truckin' on in true road-warrior fashion.

POWDER.COM: Why did you choose 'One for the Road' for the name of the film? And, why do you choose the name before the season even begins?

TODD JONES: We picked the name One for the Road so we could focus on all the different experiences the athletes have along the road. Creatively for the intro, we wanted to demonstrate the wisdom of a road warrior that has been bestowed upon the athlete. We like to pin the name and the general scope of the project before the year starts. We do this so that when we go into post-production, we have the shots we need to carry an actual theme throughout the film.

How was Alaska this year? Did the poor snow affect the trip?
Well, the place we were originally planning on going to had terrible reports, so we had to go back to the drawing board. Four or five months of planning went down the drain. We had to redo our entire plan in the span of about three weeks.

  • One for the road anyone?

Teton Gravity Research doesn't have limits. They really don't. Every mind behind TGR and every athlete involved with the company are taking crazy pills. Crazy pills that have side effects of embarking on the most extreme of missions into gargantuan mountains, dropping off abrupt and sharp cliffs, boosting into the great beyond with landings that seem miles away, and the urge to repel to get to the impossible to reach terrain.

So like we said, crazy pills...are a very, very good thing.

The award-winning production company behind films like "Deeper", "Re:Session", "Light the Wick", and "Mind the Addiction" has released the teaser for their most recent fanatical film, "One for the Road", and it revolves around one of the basic things that accompanies a life filled with skiing and snowboarding: road trips.

Follow their crew through the snow season that kidnapped every rider from their jobs because it was that good and watch as TGR just does what they do best and creates one more larger than life film.

    Trailer below...

    Teton Gravity Research:

The road trip is a metaphor for every skiers' existence.

Join the athletes as they rock a record breaking season in Jackson Hole, immerse themselves into the culture of Japan's powder mecca Hokkaido, discover Iceland's urban side, explore the Baltic wonders of Macedonia and Montenegro, shred deep pillow lines at Baldface Lodge, uncover first descents in Pemberton, BC, and hit full throttle lines in the perfect snow and weather of Juneau, AK.

  • The Meeting 6 takes over Aspen/Snowmass as the premier kickoff event for winter 2010

The Meeting 6 took over Aspen Snowmass this weekend as top industry professionals, film makers, athletes, and snow enthusiasts gathered for a giant celebration of snow film and culture.

In it's six year, The Meeting continues to gain momentum as the inaugural kick off event for the winter season. It's an epic weekend where everyone joins together to view a dizzying amount of shred flicks, share ideas about the the upcoming season, and gather together with new friends and old to revel in the amazing town of Aspen.

This year, GrindTV was stoked to be apart of the event and had a firsthand view of all the fun that went down.

On the film side of things, the schedule was packed with over thirteen screenings of the top 2010 ski and snowboard movies. The evening viewings took place at the historic Wheeler Opera House in the heart of Aspen, and the late-night showings were cued at Belly Up, Aspen's notorious music venue also in the center of town.

With a schedule boasting so many top films, the weekend was chock full of intense snow porn, filled with mind-blowing bangers. On the snowboard side of things, two videos that really stood out were Standard Films' "The Storming" and Teton Gravity Research's "Deeper."

"The Storming" is action packed and covers all the bases of a bad-ass shred flick. It was awesome to see Xavier De Le Rue's technical lines, Torstein Horgmo's monumental array of jumps, and the Helgason brother's craft-magic on rails all exploding onto the big screen at the Wheeler. This movie is big and it's one you'll have spinning in your dvd player all season.

"Deeper" is another standout film that portrays the heavy side of snowboarding. It's based as a documentary following Jeremy Jones through backcountry missions in Alaska and various parts of the world. The movie is pieced together artfully and depicts the hardships riders often endure when adventuring out, deep into the thick of it. It shows what it takes to get those gigantic lines which have previously been viewed as unattainable. The movie takes you to the locations and does a fantastic job of showing what it's actually like to go deeper.

On ski side of things, two movies that really stood out were Level One's "Eye Trip" and Poor Boys Productions "Revolver."

"Eye Trip" literally makes your eyes go gaga by combining all elements of skiing in crafty, enticing scenes. Highlights from the film are the impressive trick combos thrown over the massive gap jump in Sun Valley, Idaho, the wicked deep face shots the crew gets in Helsinki, and the sometimes sketchy lines that were scoped and scavenged in AK. This flick also earns points for illustrating ski style so damn well. It has rail scenes, mega jumps, big lines, and the mandatory after-banging we love to see in ski porn. Definitely one for your list.

"Revolver" is loaded with A-list skiers and delivers as a progressive film that takes a retrospective look into the factors that have made skiing what it is today. The flick is high action with banger after banger from Sammy Carlson, Tj Schiller, Jossi Wells, Simon Dumont, and others. It's a bit longer than your normal shred flick, but the intense action delivers making it worth every moment.

While the movies were a main focus, another element intrinsic to the event are actual meeting sessions. The idea here is that everyone in attendance brings a unique and valuable perspective to the table and there is a need to collaborate with like-minds to discuss trends and strategies for the upcoming season. This year, industry professionals, film makers and athletes gathered in three forum based discussions.

The first was a dialogue on the impact of Social Marketing and how this is changing the way we interact and communicate with audiences.

The following day, a double-header of meetings kicked off with one that focused on competition, the Olympics and its effect on the industry. After this heated discussion, attendee's talked about Content Distribution, and focused on the best channels to deliver materials to readers and viewers.

The Meeting Sessions were an interesting way to gather professionals for a chance to hash out ideas and beliefs about the every-changing snow industry.

With all of the other action going on, it wouldn't seem like you could possibility fit anything else into the Meeting's schedule, but this was a gathering of shred peeps, so you know there was time to party.

And the party's were unreal. Belly Up was the place to be on both Friday and Saturday night for concerts that blew the top off the legendary venue. The first night, DJ Muggs, of Cypress Hill and Soul Assassin fame, took to the stage and unleashed a fury of hits on his 7A3 mixer. He was burning down the house with everyone getting down and dirty on the dance floor. The set was sick and the perfect end to a simulating first day.

On the Saturday night, throwback rap stars Bones Thugs 'N Harmony rocked the stage like you wouldn't believe. The group lit it up with favorites like "Crossroads" and "Thuggish, Ruggish, Bone." There were over eight members of Bone on stage and all of the rappers looked just as pumped as the crowd they were spitting on.

    Rappers in Aspen?

Definitely made the perfect party scene for The Meeting.

As a cure to those inflicted with a hangover from an overload of the shred movies and music, many headed to Buttermilk Mountain for the Red Bull Supercamp Dirt Bike Sessions. This was an unreal part of the weekend with Red Bull outfitting attendees with gear and bikes, giving guests the chance to rip around on a specially designed course. Everyone had a blast and things got a little wild. Pro shred and "Storming" star Leanne Pelosi may have let her 50cc get away from her a time or two, but we're not judging.

To check out all the craziness from the wild weekend peep the pics: The Meeting 6

The Meeting 6 was an absolutely incredible event and the perfect kick off for the snow season of 2010. GrindTV was stoked to be apart of such a memorable weekend in Aspen, and would like to thank the many heads for making this event possible:

    Aspen/Snowmass
They did an outstanding job hosting the event and truly took care of everyone in attendance.

    The Limelight Lodge
Aspen's premier hotel that hosted the Meeting Sessions and housed many industry affiliates. This a great lodge that has a little something for everyone. Its warm and inviting rooms, coupled with its central location and comfortable feel makes it the perfect place to stay during any trip to Aspen.

We'd also like to thank Aspen's elite PR crew: Meredith McKee, Melissa Rhines, Lea Tucker, Jennifer Greechan, and Deric Gunshor. These guys make it happen on a daily basis.

Thanks again to everyone involved and we're more than stoked for next year!
