REEL ROCK film tour announces landmark 10th-year lineup

Put down the popcorn and forget about the big-ticket fall blockbusters (sorry, Everest): When it comes to the adventure films that will be on everyone's lips this year, REEL ROCK Film Tour pretty much controls the monopoly.

Founded in 2006 by filmmakers Josh Lowell of Big UP Productions and Peter Mortimer of Sender Films, the REEL ROCK Film Tour is entering its landmark 10th year by bringing the best climbing and adventure films to more than 450 locations around the world. Setting the standard for adventure storytelling (remember, this is the tour that brought us the wildly entertaining Valley Uprising), this year's lineup features everything from a first look at the headline-making free ascent of the Dawn Wall to a seven-summits-in-five-days first ascent of the Fitz Roy Traverse.

"We're really psyched about this year's tour," REEL ROCK filmmaker Nick Rosen tells GrindTV. "This has been such a momentous time in the climbing world, with such big highs and lows — from the culmination of Tommy and Kevin's epic dream on the Dawn Wall to the tragic death of Dean Potter to the groundbreaking traverse of the Fitz Roy massif — and we are honored to be able to tell these stories as a celebration of our 10th year."
