Former Jackass star Steve-O was arrested in Hollywood Monday morning after scaling a crane on a construction site on Sunday night. He had set off fireworks and hung an inflatable killer whale from the structure that read "SeaWorld sucks" to protest SeaWorld's controversial treatment of its captive killer whales. The stunt drew over 80 firemen as well as five ambulances and a police helicopter to the scene.
Steve-O (real name Stephen Glover) hinted at the stunt in an Instagram post on Sunday, where he posed with the inflatable killer whale he hung from the crane.
"This is shammy," read the post. "We're gonna do a big dangerous stunt tomorrow in Los Angeles that will probably get me in a lot of trouble, and you can watch it happen at 7 p.m. PST via a live stream on my Facebook page."
This isn't the first time that Steve-O criticize SeaWorld for it's treatment of captive Orcas.
In December 2014, the daredevil was fined for defacing a traffic sign to make it read "SeaWorld sucks" on Interstate 5 near Mission Bay, San Diego, leading to the amusement park.
"I have a pretty passionate stance against animal cruelty, as everyone knows," Steve-O told the animal interest website The Dodo at the time of his San Diego traffic stunt. "It's magical if I can take a wild and crazy stunt and do some good. Here I am setting out to entertain people and then I can do something to make a difference."
Before climbing down to the base of the crane on Sunday night, where police waited to take him into custody on suspicion of trespassing charges, Steve-O had a much more succinct message for his fans.
"Anyone wanna bail me out of jail?" the entertainer wrote on Facebook.
