  • 2010 Wendy's Invitational Park Results

The park finals are getting harder and harder to judge. It's not just the general skill level going up, it's also the diversity of riders increasing. You got dudes doing 720 variations and front flip variations, and you got guys doing unique lines and technical tricks on the ground. You have to take all these styles of riding the course and put them together to score something... Yeah, hard.

Daniel Dhers took the number one spot with a run full of trick after trick. All of them accentuated with height and that flair he has. Tailwhips flaired out all weird and spins all corked and all. 2nd, Brett Banasiewicz had a few ugly landings but so did Dhers and Brett came a hair below Dhers. Flair whips all day, front flip and 360 variations, all dialed in. 3rd, Andy Buckworth may have taken the win in my heart for sheer innovative ability. Backflip handplant on spine, frontflip superman, with flair whips and 900s? How do you judge this stuff?

The rest of the field went like this:
    4. Drew Bezanson
    5. Mark Webb
    6. Dennis Enarson
    7. Mike Spinner
    8. Garrett Reynolds
    9. Jeremiah Smith
    10. Dave Mirra
Craig Mast & Vince Byron didn't ride.

  • 2010 Wendy's Invitational Vert Results

Jamie Bestwick is big number for same big number in Dew Tour vert. I can't recall the last stop he lost but that's not what's important. What's important is that Vince Byron didn't ride and this stop was close to being the one that Bestwick did not dominate. However, he did. Of course.

Jamie Bestwick... was just Jamie. Higher than anybody, further across than anybody, more difficulty than anybody. Even with an outstanding run by Simon, Jamie seems so far above the rest of the field. Tabron's still biting at his heels though. Simon Tabron earned 2nd place with a clean 900 and a slew of technical 540 variations and stylish tricks at height. Steven McCann took 3rd place with similarly high and difficult walls but lacks the unique bangers like Simons' 9 or Jamie's flair downside thing.

The rest of the field went like this:
    4. Jimmy Walker
    5. Coco Zurita
    6. Chad Kagy
    7. Austin Coleman
    8. Zack Warden
    9. Dennis McCoy
    10. Vince Byron (didn't ride)

  • 2010 Wendy's Invitational Park Qualifying

Thirty two riders (that's a lot) in the park qualifying and only nine will advance to ride against the pre-qualified riders that are Mike Spinner, Daniel Dhers, and Garrett Reynolds. The breakdown goes like this:

Drew Bezanson looks to be back on his rampage. Qualifying first in park, he threw down in typical Drew fashion with unique lines and an enormous footjam. 2nd, Craig Mast (wearing a not full face helmet...) blasted some huge tricks on the huge sub box and stomped several whip, spin, and flip variations. 3rd, Brett Banasiewicz did the golden child thing with every difficult trick dialed in one run. 4th, Andy Buckworth went huge with back and front flip variations including a backflip handplant over the spine.

5th, Dennis Enarson brought the big, unique transfers and lines that are peppered with bangers. 6th, Mark Webb simply brought it with a mix of technical, lower tricks and higher banger tricks. 7th, Jeremiah Smith brought the quick, technical tricks one after the other. Vert master Vince Byron brought it to the park and qualified 8th place with a slew of difficult tricks, namely a huge 540 whip. Closely following him is Dave Mirra grabbing the last qualifying spot with huge use of the course and big spin transfers.

Will Bezanson get back on course for "Drew Thousand and Ten"? Or will the current park champions retain their titles on the Dew Tour?

  • 2010 Wendy's Invitational Vert Qualifying

Pre-qualified for the vert finals are Jamie Bestwick, Chad Kagy, and Steven McCann. The top 7 riders of qualifying will ride against them tomorrow. So, here's how the qualifying round went.

Simon Tabron took top honors with a slew of stylish, high tricks that were rather Bestwick-like. Vince Byron follows in second place with a run full of technical tricks. Austin Coleman took third with a slew of high tailwhips and flair variations.

Jimmy Walker took fourth place with a stylish run. Zack Warden took fifth place with some bike flips and tail whips. Coco Zurita took 6th with some stylish tailwhip variations. Dennis McCoy is still running strong and will be riding the finals with the little boys tomorrow as he took 7th place.

  • 2010 Wendy's Invitational Dirt Results

I may not have "called it" but I definitely mentioned it. Brett Banasiewicz won the last dirt event on the tour and just went 2 for 2. How did he do it? In style, and by style I mean 360 into the hectic drop in, double whip the first set, front flip the second, 450 truck the hip, and then flying out of the berm pulled the cash roll on the last set. To top it all off, he front flipped the berm at the end of the run and pretty much let his glorious sunshine light up the room and hearts of young women in the crowd.

Ryan Nyquist trucked his way to second place. Dennis Enarson put a clean run of opposite spins and whips together for a third place finish. Luke Parslow was hitting off 360 backflips and put together solid runs for fourth place. Brandon Dosch pulled out a bag of tailwhips for fifth place.

Everybody absolutely went off and Brett just put on an indescribable show. 6-12 went like this:

    6. James Foster
    7. Anthony Napolitan
    8. Chris Doyle
    9. TJ Ellis
    10. Corey Bohan
    11. Andy Buckworth
    12. Diogo Canina
