Top collegiate wakeboard teams from across the country will compete in the fourth annual Collegiate Wakeboard National Championships, April 17-19, in San Diego, Calif. Sanctioned by USA Wakeboard, the Collegiate Wakeboard National Championships will once again be held in conjunction with the CBS College Sports Network's fourth annual Alt Games, formerly known as the Collegiate Nationals.

The Collegiate Wakeboard National Championships is a team competition consisting of an innovative head-to-head format. Each of the 16 competing schools is expected to bring seven riders to compete in wakeboarding and wakeskating at Hidden Anchorage Bay Cove on Mission Bay. Individual titles in respective events also will be at stake. The University of Florida is the defending team champion.

"The Alt Games on CBS Sports and CBS College Sports Network provide the largest stage for competitors in action sports to compete and represent their colleges," said Steve Herbst, executive vice president and general manager, CBS College Sports Network. "Action sports have huge participant levels and audiences, and CBS College Sports Network is proud to be the largest action sports competition outlet in the collegiate landscape. Adding high definition broadcasts and online extensions is another way we are growing the competition and enhancing the viewing experience for fans."

More than 500 competitors from 45 different colleges and universities nationwide are expected to compete at the 2009 Alt Games, which will ultimately crown 11 national men's and women's champions in both individual and team events.
