The first day of the Roxy Chicken Jam yesterday was met with high winds and chunks of ice to the face of the riders. Welcome to Mammoth ladies.

The girls weathered the crap conditions and kicked off the qualifying round by dropping into the hard packed, icy superpipe. This year they are riding a 21 foot tall half pipe, three feet taller than the one at least year's event, enabling them to seriously boost above the pipe walls.

With improved weather today, the slopestyle qualifiers were ready and set to go off. With a bigger and brand new course, the girls did what they do best and killed it. At 13 years old, Ty Walker is the youngest rider at the Chicken Jam but like that matters...she qualified first in slopestyle. This girl is not messing around.

Mammoth Mountain is going to be crawling with snow bunnies and bright pink this weekend which in turn means it's going to be crawling with drooling baggy pant wearing boys. However, by snow bunnies, I mean the top women riders in the business ready to throw down in one of the best parks in the country including Sarka Pancochova, Torah Bright, Jenny Jones, Jamie Anderson, Kelly Clark, Hannah Teter, and tons more.

The 6th Annual Roxy Chicken Jam kicks off Thursday March 25th with the superpipe and slopestyle qualifiers. This all lady event will eventually determine and crown the Women's Swatch TTR World Champion. Not only that, but this event has some of the biggest prize purses in women's professional snowboarding which always results in banger riding. Did I mention the park is brand new and bigger than ever?

The infamous mascot halfpipe competition will be taking place on Saturday March 27th after the Superpipe and Slopestyle finals. The mascot contest will be highly entertaining due to the fact that a) there will be ridiculous crashes b) huge fake mascot heads will be falling off everywhere and c) they don't get a practice run.

To clinch the awesomeness of this spring event, spectators will get to enjoy a free concert in the Village featuring The Bravery and N.A.S.A. So, if you want to work on that goggle tan, rage, and witness one of the most popular 6-star ladies event in snowboarding, start finding people to split gas with you and get up to Mammoth this weekend.
