The Nanshan Open began in China seven years ago when a small group of international and local friends gathered for what would be the first snowboard event on Chinese soil. Fewer than 20 riders took part, most of them in their very first season riding, and no one anticipated what would be in store for this small event in the world of snowboarding.

Seven years later, and the Nanshan Open is a world-class event, drawing a roster of top riders and sponsors who have helped make some dramatic progress in what is still a developing snowboard scene. This is the Open’s third year as a TTR ranked event and its third year with Red Bull as sponsor. This year China’s only international snowboard event once again offers first-class hospitality and riding for your pleasure.



The small crew that puts together this event must be one of the most hard-working in the world. Working in a country where nothing is easy, a small tight-knit crew of Chinese and international workers bend over backwards in order to make sure this event runs as smoothly as possible. Tommy ‘Mellow’ Marsh designs an international standard park, with perfect kickers and creative obstacles. All of this would not be possible without the local know-how of Marco Huang, local head park shaper and one of the co-founders of China’s snowboard scene. Mellow Parks, the longest running park-shaping and event organizing team creates a perfect playground and continuously pushes the limits.
