AboutThe 2008 International Water Ski Federation (IWSF) World Cup continues with stops in Malaysia. Putrajaya, Malaysia, a planned city that is home to 1.5 million residents and several new government administrative offices, will host water skiing Nov. 7-9. Featured disciplines will be slalom, jump, shortboard and wakeboard. Eight women and 12 men are slated to compete in water skiing, while the wakeboarding series will feature eight female and 18 male riders.
With specialization on the rise in water skiing, only six athletes have qualified for both the shortboard and jump competitions.
Every athlete currently holding a top spot in the latest IWSF ranking tables has been selected for the World Cup, including jump competitors Freddy Krueger of the United States and Greece’s Ageliki Andriopoulou, who will also compete in shortboard.
American slalom specialists Jamie Beauchesne and Karen Truelove are also slated to compete, as are shortboarders Nicolas LeForestier and Clementine Lucine, both of France.
Among wakeboarders, nearly all of the top riders from the 2007 World Cup season are expected to return, including world champions Andrew Adkison and Dallas Friday, both of the United States. Fellow American Phillip Soven, winner of all four events this summer on the Pro Wakeboard Tour, is also expected to compete.
The trio will be joined by New Zealand’s Jeff Weatherall, Daniel Watkins of Australia and American teen sensation Raimi Merritt. | A D V E R T I S E M E N T My InfoEvent Details:Singapore Singapore October 11, 2008 - October 12, 2008 | October 2008 | |
